Biography

Yves Niaré was French record holder in the shot put. In 2006 he became the second Frenchman to put the shot over 20 metres, recording 20.06 at Porto-Vecchio. In 2007 he broke the French record with a put of 20.21 at the Lancers de Chelles meet, improving that to 20.72 in 2009. His best international finish was second at the 2009 European Indoors, and he was fourth in 2009 at the Mediterranean Games. Niaré competed at the 2001 and 2009 World Championships, placing 26th in 2001 and 27th in 2009. Domestically he won 10 French titles. He died rather young in a car accident.
