Joachim Meischner won his only international medal at the 1972 Sapporo Winter Games in the biathlon relay together with [Hansjörg Knauthe], [Dieter Speer] and [Horst Koschka], finishing behind the Soviet Union and Finland. In 1967 he had won the first international biathlon medal for the former GDR at the World Youth Championships in Altenberg. Meischner won three GDR National titles in the relay (1969-71) with his SG Dynamo Zinnwald team, and won one individual medal at the East German Championships, a bronze in the 1971 20 km. |
