Rihanna is celebrating after being the biggest winner at the American Urban Music Awards.

The Umbrella starlet, who’s been showing off a daring new Mohican hairdo, scooped Best Female Act and Best Music Video for Rehab at the ceremony at the Hammerstein Ballroom in New York.

Bobby Valentino, who’s also known as Bobby V, stole the night with an electrifying performance and scored two prizes for Best Male Act and Best RnB Act.

Other winners included Akon, who took the gong for Artist Of The Year, Jay-Z, who was awarded Best Hip-Hop Act, and Kanye West, whose latest album, 808’s And Heartbreak, nabbed the award for Best Album.

Hip-hop star and DJ Grandmaster Flash was honoured with the Lifetime Achievement award.

Swizz Beatz, who won Best Producer, said in a statement: “The Urban Music Awards is one of the most exciting events I have been to in a long time. If you love urban music like I do, then you have to love the Urban Music Awards.”
