How Wolves Change Rivers

How Wolves Change Rivers, narrated by the great leftwing writer George Monbiot. After wolves were reintroduced to Yellowstone, there were remarkable effects on the ecosystem across the board, all beneficial. Animal populations that were too high got reduced and populations that were too low increased. Birds came back in great numbers. So did beavers, mice, weasels, badgers, rabbits and even bears. Vegetation exploded, especially trees and bushes. And the rivers themselves were dramatically altered, changing from damaged streams to normal, healthy rivers.

This is called a trophic cascade, and the reintroduction of wolves to Yellowstone is one of the most striking examples of one seen in recent years. This cascade may not be reproducible in whole outside the park due to the effects of hunting, but I think you should see some beneficial changes in ecosystems with the reintroduction of wolves.

A Racist Commenter Writes In

Anonymous White nationalist (actually initials are “SS”):

Lindsay, there are no more delusional people on this earth than leftists. There simply are not. You deserve to be exterminated. You, personally, mentally ill faggot, deserve a particularly gruesome death. With the combination of turd world filth your side has opened the flood gates to and the worthless nigger excrement you insist on “integrating” with (by moving across town, typically, so that your delusions are not upset) the chances you’ll meet such a death are rather good. Fingers crossed!

I actually know who this fellow is, and is one Hell of a hardcore White nationalist. He has also insisted to me many times that he is not racist at all, and he harbors no hatred at all towards any non-Whites. He even called me up on the phone once to show me what a nice guy he really was and how he really wasn’t this evil White racist guy.

I hate to tell you this, but most of these White nationalist types are exactly like this guy. This is what they are like, almost all of them. No matter what you think about race or what race you are, why would you want to associate yourself with guys like this? I know they endlessly talk about the white state they are going to form by splitting away from the US. This has a snowball’s chance in Hell of happening.

Frankly, I might even want to go live in that White state if they set one up. It might be a nice place to live until you think about it. All of your neighbors are going to be just like this guy. The women will all be like Viking Bitch. Your next door neighbor will be David Duke. On the other side will be Don Black. Alex Linder will live across the street. All of a sudden, now that I think about it, I really would not want to go live in that White state after all.

You can say folks like the above are an anomaly, but they really are not. The truth is that folks like that are the logical outgrowth of White nationalism. They either come naive and get turned into this guy by White nationalist rhetoric, or they are already like this guy and White nationalist rhetoric gives them a happy home and makes them even nuttier.

If you’re a White nationalist, this guy is your base. If you are thinking of becoming one, this guy is your comrade. By looking at the supporters of a movement, we can judge the quality of the movement itself. Looking at White nationalists, we have to conclude that WN is a very ugly philosophy indeed.

About the Comment Blocks

I am very sorry everybody, but I went through my comment block filter and tried to make it more tidy by blocking larger strings of addresses but by doing so, I inadvertently blocked a lot of regular commenters. Some of you are still blocked and I haven’t the faintest idea why as I can’t see how you are in the comment block filter. The commenter blocker simply sends all blocked comments into the spam bin. Then I go through the spam bin and try to figure out what is spam, what is a legitimately blocked comment and what is a good comment that got caught in the comment blocker.

Jason Y, Lisa FOS and a few others are still blocked, and I have no idea why.

Everyone just keep on commenting and don’t worry about the blocker. Your comments are simply going in the spam bin and will be retrieved soon, probably no later than 12-18 hours and probably much sooner when I get a chance to go through the filter. Just keep on commenting away and rest assured that all of your stuff will get through before the day is up.

Sorry for the inconvenience.

Wolf Wars

WolfWars_08_13_2014

I haven’t the faintest idea what all of this mad wolf-slaughtering is doing to the wolf populations in those states, but it seems preposterous that as soon as you take an animal off the Endangered Species list, you go on a wild slaughtering campaign against it. What’s the rationality in that?

Grand Canyon Wolf Gunned Down

From the Center for Biological Diversity. I am acquainted with a few of these people, including the director, Kieran. I have worked with them a bit on a few things here and there. I love what they do. Theirs is one of the most effective, kickass environmental groups out there.

Background: A wolf from Wyoming left the state, apparently wandered all the way through Utah down to the Grand Canyon in Arizona where it was photographed and caused quite a sensation. Wolves used to inhabit this region, but they have not been seen in many years. Further, wolves are rare to absent in Utah. It seems to have left the Grand Canyon and wandered again 150 miles north of the Grand Canyon to Beaver, Utah, where it was shot and killed. Utah apparently has no laws protecting wolves and in fact, encourages and even promotes killing them, although few if any wolves reside in the state.

The US Fish and Wildlife Service has idiotically taken wolves off the Endangered Species list even though they are very much in trouble in a number of states. The feds turned wolf management over to the states. Most every state that has wolves has then embarked on a wild wolf-massacring campaign. These campaigns have occurred in Montana, Idaho and Wyoming in the West and in the Great Lakes area of Michigan, Wisconsin and Minnesota.

A federal judge has recently halted the Great Lakes states’ wolf slaughter “management.” There really is not any management going on at all in most of these states. Instead all there is is wild, unrelenting wolf slaughter. It is unknown what effect this massacring will have on wolf populations, but it is conceivable that at some point, they may reduce the population so low that it may need to go back on the Endangered Species list again.

Certainly wolves need to be fully protected in places like Washington, Oregon, California, Utah, Arizona, Colorado and Iowa. Wolves are being killed in Washington, Colorado, Iowa and Utah where population numbers are very low.

It’s what we feared the most. Echo, the wandering wolf who became a worldwide sensation after showing up at the Grand Canyon this fall, has likely been gunned down in Utah.

Here’s what we know: State wildlife officials have confirmed that a 3-year-old female wolf with a collar from Wyoming was shot Sunday night by a hunter outside Beaver, Utah – about 150 miles north of the Grand Canyon. Echo is the only Northern Rockies gray wolf that has been confirmed this far south, and DNA evidence will most likely show that she’s the victim.

Once again we have to mourn a dead wolf. Once again we see this same horrific pattern. It’s normal for younger wolves to leave their pack and set off looking for a new mate and new territory. But again and again – in Colorado and Iowa, in Washington and now Utah – these wolves have been gunned down in horrific cases of malice and mistaken identity.

Smart as they are, wolves don’t read border signs, and they can’t tell an ignorant human with a rifle that they aren’t coyotes. The result is another dead wolf to add to the 640-plus already killed this year by guns, traps and poisons.

The wolf haters, no doubt, are delighted with the latest killing and are determined to keep this bloody campaign going. They have influential friends like Utah’s own Congressman Rob Bishop, the powerful new head of the House Natural Resources Committee, who has vowed to end protection for wolves from coast to coast — making what happened near Beaver neither illegal nor rare. The government of Utah has even spent $800,000 on lobbyists to strip protection from wolves so they can be freely killed in the state. They don’t want to learn to live peacefully with wolves. They want to destroy them.

Sadly there will only be one Echo, the first wolf to hear her howls ring through the Grand Canyon in more than 70 years. If she has indeed been gunned down, we won’t forget her. All wolves deserve to the chance to to roam freely and survive.

Date My Pornstar

No matter what you think of porn, positive, negative, or neither, I think you will enjoy this video about the US porn industry. This is a documentary from the UK where they take three young male porn addicts and send to Los Angeles to meet their favorite porn stars, watch them perform, and then go on a date with them. Nothing happens on the dates, which are strictly platonic.

Two of the men are straight and one is gay. The gay one gets to meet his favorite gay porn star, who it turns out is not the slightest bit gay! He is a completely heterosexual man who does not actually have any gay sex in his movies because he can’t stand doing that. Instead all of the raw sex scenes are done with inserts and stunt cocks. To get himself ready for his shoots, he turns on straight porn and jacks to imagery of women!

The two female porn stars are much saner than you might suppose.

This is billed as an anti-porn film and is promoted on Youtube as an anti-porn video. However, I am not sure it can be characterized that way at all. Anyway it is an eye-opening look at a very sleazy industry.

Relationships With Massive IQ Differences

GG writes:

I’ve been dating a guy who has a IQ of 180. You are absolutely correct about communication with someone who has an IQ 20-50 points lower and the jokes tend to be difficult at times. He loves telling jokes which, make me laugh. I love this about him, but I don’t get all his jokes. Of course, he knows this immediately and explains or he will say bad joke. I’m concerned he will grow tired of communicating on my level or explaining. I like him and enjoyed our last three months of laughter. Does anyone have tips for dating a genius or had a relationship with a difference of 50 points? If the latter, any success stories?

I do not think that the 50 points itself is such a terrible barrier. It depends more on where the high IQ is at.

In your case, we have a 180 IQ versus a 130 IQ. Of all the 50-point differences, ones along these lines would have the best chances of succeeding. A 130 IQ person ought to be able to keep up with a 180 pretty well I would think.

But it depends on the character of the 130 IQ. My father had a 129 IQ and in some ways, he was smarter than I am with an IQ 18 points higher. But in other ways, he had quite a concrete way of thinking. He just couldn’t get out of the box. And he was one of the most closed-minded people I have ever known. A lot of that was tragically wrapped up in some nasty Axis 2 stuff, but that’s not really important here other than to show how Axis 2 pathology might impair the full flowering of your mind.

130 IQ is near gifted. Two more points and she is in Mensa. The poster is no dummy.

But then I know a 117 IQ who seems to be as smart as I am, if not even smarter, and he is 30 IQ points lower than I am. I can’t make sense of that other than to say that he has spent his life stuffing his brain, especially with philosophy, which is a great thing to stuff your brain with.

The anti-IQ people are correct in some sense. IQ is a nice metric, but it doesn’t take into account to what extent you have stuffed and exercised your brain. To reach the full flowering of your intelligence, you should stuff your brain as much as possible and exercise it and work it out as hard as you can. Think of it as going to the “brain gym.” Instead of a bodybuilding program, start a brain-building program. It’s all the same idea anyway. The brain is not a muscle, but it is similar to one. A muscle works better the more you use it. Same with the muscle-like organ called the brain.

I know a guy with an IQ of 106 who is extremely intelligent. I do not have the faintest idea of what he has done to get to this point. I believe maybe he just likes to think. I have a friend with an IQ of 107 who was at first intimidated by my blog. I told him to keep at it and use the site to work out his brain. I also had a lot of long brainy conversations with him and I turned his head around in some ways. We also fed off each other. I do not know what happened, but he seems much more intelligent now than when I met him. I think maybe he is just working it.

170 and 120 IQ couple. Not sure how this is going to work. In some cases, like the 117 IQ cited above, it should be fine. Keep in mind that the average physician IQ is 125. I believe your average physician could get along well with a 170 IQ person.

160 and 110 IQ couple. I have a feeling that this might be a problem, but I am not sure. I have known some folks around 110-115 IQ, and they were no dummies. A lot of people with IQ’s ~115 have very interesting brains and many are quite creative. The 160 IQ might have to explain things to the 110 IQ person quite a bit though.

150 and 100 IQ couple. Well, my best friend for many years probably had a 100 IQ, and we got along like peanut butter and jelly, best friends forever. There were some problems in the relationship, but he was smarter than you might think. Also he was an extremely talented artist, and after a while, he developed superb social skills. He was also a very successful cocaine dealer for quite a few years, and you have to be smart to do that.

I had a roommate in college who may have had a 100 IQ. We watched TV and got stoned together every night. There were a few issues in the relationship, but he had a very wise mind and understood about life pretty well.

I know a man right now who has a 96 IQ, and I can communicate with him perfectly even though he has an IQ 51 points below mine. Actually he is amazingly intellectual. Once again, I think he has just been filling his head up with stuff all his life, and he’s now in his 50’s.

I have a feeling that in a lot of cases though, this 150-100 relationship might run into some issues. In particular, the 150 IQ person may feel frustrated in the relationship due to the IQ gap.

140 and 90 IQ couple. I am quite certain there are going to are going to be some serious issues here. I have a pretty hard time communicating with most folks with IQ’s around 90. They don’t seem to understand me and more importantly, don’t seem to know much about anything I am interested and from my point of view, they have nothing to say. But many have great social skills, are very wise about life, and have a fantastic sense of humor.

130 and 80 IQ couple. I can’t really deal with people with IQ’s in the 80’s. That would be 58-67 IQ points below mine – call it 60-65 IQ point difference. I have tried. Mostly I find them unspeakably boring.

This Hispanic gangbanger character used to hang out here all the time, mostly to smoke weed because he couldn’t smoke it at his Mom’s place. He had excellent social skills, and he was funny as Hell. Actually he was downright hilarious. We could not communicate intellectually in any way, shape or form, and his idea of a good time was utterly boring to me.

He was also basically a criminal. I find that a lot of folks with IQ’s in the 80’s have a somewhat criminal-type or low morals mindset, and this bothers me a lot. They are also often manipulative and all-take no-give types. At some certain point, possibly below 90 IQ, I believe your intelligence starts effecting your moral structure.

120 and 70 IQ couple. Forget it. This person is retarded.

However, as a young man, one of my first girlfriends was a woman named DJ. Actually I lost my virginity to her. She may have had an IQ of 75. That means we had a 72 point IQ gap. She was definitely not all that smart. As a matter of fact, we used to joke all the time about how dumb she was, and she readily admitted she was basically a dumb bimbo and seemed ok with that lot in life. It was sort of a running joke.

Nevertheless she was beautiful, blond and blue, with the vacant eyes and insatiable sex drive of a classic bimbo, and every guy in town wanted to fuck her. Nevertheless, she was a very interesting person, and she taught me many things about women and especially sex, which was her favorite subject since she was a nympho. She also had an interesting view of life, in particular focused on interpersonal relationships and especially once again sex. We were best friends and sometime lovers for quite some time. On the whole though, this is just not going to work. Not only that, but once you get into IQ’s in the 70’s, you may indeed run into quite a bit of low morals and criminal type behaviors. One problem with these people though is that they are often not even very good criminals. They are literally too dumb to be good criminals!

All in all, I think too much is made of the 30 point IQ gap beyond which communication is difficult if not impossible. I feel this is somewhat of an exaggeration and as we saw above, even 50 IQ points is not insurmountable, though it may be frustrating for the person on the higher end.

Also we see above that not all 95, 105 and 115 IQ’s are the same. Some have stuffed their brains so full and worked their brains so hard that they seem much more intelligent than their score.

As far as the woman above, I would say that a 180-130 IQ relationship is certainly doable and may even work well depending on the individuals involved. The important point here is that even though there are 50 IQ points difference, the person with the 130 IQ is classed as very superior intelligence, near gifted. In other words, they are very smart. This is a relationship between a very smart person and an unbelievably smart person. That distinction is not as significant as it might seem.

What Am I Doing These Days?

Some of you are concerned that I lead some sort of a lousy, boring life. That may be true in a sense but not in the catastrophic sense. For instance, there is usually a woman or maybe even more than one woman floating around my world. Other than that, I don’t see what else I need other than money.

So maybe you are wondering what I am doing these days.

Lately I have been reading Ezra Pound! Not his poetry. God no, not sure if I can make heads or tails out of that. I have been reading his prose! Pound’s prose is little known, but before he went crazy in the 1930’s, he wrote some superb prose.

As far as whether I am happy or not, all I have to say is that no matter what else is going on in one’s life, as long as one is reading Ezra Pound, how could one not be happy as a clam?

Pound’s writing that is available in one way or another on the web is here.

Anyone else like Ezra Pound?

Duplicate Letters in English

English has some letters such as c, x and q that make the same sounds as other letters. So why not just get rid of them. Why do we have them in the first place?

This is how I feel about the matter:

U kan tshange the duplikats, of korce. But then kweschuns start to arize y not tshange other duplikats as wel. Bekuz ‘oo’ and ‘u’ sownd cimilar, so y not redus al cimilar-sownding vowels to komon leters? So after a fyu frutles atempts, u wil be left with sumthing that luks liyk this. And that’s not even the end of it! Perhaps we kud remuv al unesesary duplikats altogether and remuv cilent sownds, tu?
