Lara comes alive with intricately animated expressions, moves and abilities. An arsenal of modern equipment, such as a magnetic grappling device, binoculars, frag grenades, personal lighting device and communications equipment, allows gamers to experience tomb raiding as never before. Eidos and Crystal Dynamics shaped Lara's look and movements to be an inherent extension of her skills, motivation and personality. Lara's character model features natural structure, realistic textures, detailed facial features, reactive eyes and fluid motion, all of which make her part of a living environment. New character animations and controls allow her to move through stunning environments with grace and precision, while an understanding of the game's original appeal reinvigorates the fundamental explore-and-solve adventure experience. Fans of the original games and new comers to the series alike will all take to this new outing and know why Lara was and always will be gaming goddess she is.
  2. With perfect controls, intuitive gameplay, stunning graphics, majestic music, and a totally engaging story, this is the type of adventure game Legends are made of.
  3. Easy to recommend to adventure gaming fans. It is a great mix of puzzle solving and acrobatic platform action that makes for some great gaming fun. Finally, Tomb Raider has returned to the excitement that made it a legend in the first place.
  4. Crystal Dynamics has finally made Lara into the female Indiana Jones sheĆ¢??s always threatened to be, and even managed to fill the game with memorable moments, such as an incident with a motorbike on the rooftops of Japan, swan diving off a high cliff into a lake, and even base jumping into the middle of a combat zone.
  5. With a renewed focus on adventure and the inclusion of a less restrictive control scheme, Crystal Dynamics has managed to rekindle the fading flame of the Tomb Raider franchise. Although it is a bit on the short side, a multitude of extras and the tough Time Trial mode will extends the Croft experience.

For the first time ever, Lara Croft controls fluidly -- her world isn't divided into little squares, and she can perform complex series of acrobatic maneuvers without a pause (and often has to, later in the game).
  7. Feel free to take Lara out for the weekend, but don't go looking for a long-term relationship.

Very fun game with a damn leave you hanging ending. Only gripe is that it was way too short. Other than that Tomb Raider was a fun 7.5 hours.

Only took about 8 hours to complete. I have to say I was pretty disappointed with the ending and overall gameplay. I don't believe Crystal Dynamics managed to successfully resurrect the dying Tomb Raider. There was nothing really special about this game. The Legend just lacks most of the elements that made original games so darn fun. First of, the story did not hold my attention what so ever. It was confusing and was just there to keep the action going. The environments, even looking great, felt very linear and not all that huge. There weren't enough huge open spaces like in original games. I liked the physics involved in most of the puzzles, but they were just so darn easy and obvious. There weren't any real "thinking" puzzles that original Tomb Raider had. I like having to memorize patterns, find the right combinations and such. The Legend just had some simple push the switch to open the door type puzzles. The whole game just felt very linear and the challenge was given in small chuncks. There just wasn't any motivation to really explore the environments and look for interesting ways out. Also, what happened to the famous CG clips between Tomb Raider levels? They got replaced by a quick-time button pressing cutscenes? I would prefer a nicely done cinematics like in original games. On the positive side, I think the controls in Legend are pretty solid, maybe even too solid at times. There were quite a few parts where I passed without dying first time. So, in conclusion, I just want to point out that Tomb Raider Legend is pretty much solid game that just seems to lack a lot of magic of originals. It's definitely too short to justify the $50 price. The designers at Crystal Dynamics should've done their homework and researched the genre more. Expand

The good news is that the latest game starring Lara Croft is much better than "Angel of Darkness". This game is in it's own right pretty enjoyable and worth a playthrough. It does have some problems such as generic gunplay and short length. I would have to say Tomb Raider is a little overrated but it is still fun. I'm not one for puzzle solving exploration games but Legend managed to keep me entertained throughout but it did not blow me away. If your really into the Tomb Raider kind of game maybe it's worth your money but I couldn't find enough reasons to seriosly consider purchasing it. Expand
