(CS/ks) Scandinavian Airlines (SAS) is reportedly dropping its Luxembourg – Copenhagen connection with the start of the winter schedule on October 25.

Danish industry magazin Check-In broke the news, quoting an SAS spokesperson as saying that the route was not financially viable. Passengers who already booked to fly with SAS to Copenhagen from Luxembourg will reportedly be offered an alternative flight via Frankfurt.

On the company website, flights to Luxembourg are not bookable past October.

SAS started the Copenhagen – Luxembourg route in 2005, with Luxembourg airline Luxair launching its own service in the summer of 2013.

Luxair earlier this year announced that it would increase capacity on the route, as well as on flights to Stockholm, from next year. An expansion of the fleet was not ruled out by a spokesperson.

Meanwhile Luxair also dropped Frankfurt from its schedule, after a partnership with Lufthansa ended. Lufthansa will now operate the route. Luxair on the other hand is adding a flight to its Munich route.
