Tampa Bay's practice squad has been relatively stable in 2017, with seven players who began the season on that unit still having their spots in Week 11. However, Week 12 has brought a series of changes to the Buccaneers' practice squad.
On Wednesday, the Buccaneers signed wide receiver Jake Lampman, offensive tackle Givens Price and cornerback David Rivers. Lampman and Price are new to the team; Rivers previously spent eight weeks on the practice squad.
Tampa Bay already had one open spot on the practice squad after promoting wide receiver Freddie Martino to the active roster late last week. The other two were created with the release of cornerback Senquez Golson and tackle Justin Murray. Murray had been on the practice squad since the beginning of the season but Golson just arrived last week.
The 6-0, 205-pound Lampman first entered the NFL as an undrafted free agent out of Ferris State, signing with the New Orleans Saints last year. He started his rookie season on the Saints' practice squad but was later promoted to the active roster in mid-October. Lampman was productive on special teams, making six kick-coverage tackles in just six games, and he went back to training camp with the Saints this summer before being waived in the final cuts.
Price (6-4, 310) also came to the NFL as an undrafted rookie last year after playing his college ball at Nebraska. He signed first with the Cardinals and spent almost all of 2016 on Arizona's practice squad before a late promotion let him see action in one game. Price also spent a good portion of this season on the practice squad in Arizona but was most recently on Washington's practice squad.
Rivers (6-0, 185) originally signed with the Buccaneers on September 19 after entering the league as an undrafted free agent in Green Bay this past spring. The Packers released Rivers in June after an injury had kept him off the field for most of the team's spring practices. Rivers did get to go to an NFL training camp, however, as he was picked up by the New York Jets in late July. He appeared in three of the Jets' four preseason games, contributing two tackles and two passes defensed.
