Sorry to be a pain, but I've rooted, cleared all the bloat off (thanks Snesfan), but now none of my buttons seem to work, I have to use the touch screen to navigate ! Any ideas ?

I don't mean to be a prat, but did you accidentally toggle on the button hold switch? That happened to me twice, and I freaked out for five minutes thinking I bricked the thing. I'm sure it's a bigger issue than that, but I just want to make sure.

Well yes I'm a prat, I had the button hold switch in the wrong position... Dohhh !!!! Thanks for the tip  ;D

Just thought I'd say hi..as a new 601 owner.

Been reading this thread for a while, and mine arrived on Friday.
Thanks to snesfan's little guide, I got it rooted and removed all of the crap  ;)

I mainly got the thing to play snes games on. I had a Dingoo a320 in the past, but I was never really too happy with the performance of the snes emulation, also had a CFW psp, with very similar results.....so far, the 601 has been ace! Everything seems pretty smooth.

Been installing a few other emus too and seems great. for £60 you can't go far wrong really.

a couple of things that bug me so far :
WOW...those start/select and menu buttons are LOOOUUUUD!  ;)
Also, the d-pad feels a little "high", which isn't too much of an issue 99% of the time, but as the bottom-right, and top-left seem to be connected, I have in issue with doing a right to left fireball motion in streetfighter for example.....but that's a pretty little niggle that only crops up in very specific situations.  :)
Not a big fan of the touch screen either, but it's good enough.

I'm off to play some games.

Anyone knows how to restore the "back" or "reverse" and "home" icon to the status bar after applying SNESFAN factory apk removal steps guide?

Also, how to re-enable the autokill aplication on exit?

Another new user here. For the life of me, I cannot get UnlockRoot to recognize my S601; it keeps saying "Not find online device, please enable USB debugging!"--which, of course, I have. When I connect to my PC (Win7), the S601 even says "USB debugging connected".
Up till this point, I have been following zepxxx's exemplary guide. Does anyone have any advice? Thanks!

Did you install the driver? When you scroll to unlock root from windows program menu there is the option there.

I've got mine today and i'm a bit dissapointed. Mame and neogeo runs with a lot of frame skip, so they are not  playable. SNES, MD and Pc Engine are great, but i bought especially for CPS1 and CPS2 and neogeo games.
Any advice or the console is just not powerful enough? I'm root and i've made all modifications by SNESFAN
Otherwise i've seen in Quadrant that processor is 600 mhz  :'(, so i'm afraid is underclocked. This console needs some custom rom to gain speed, because at stock levels is not powerful enough i think.

p.d: Sorry abouy my english.
All I can suggest is to make sure your using the newest version, go into settings and look for anything that offers a performance boost. Like switching to open gl rendering. I'm able to play NeoGeo games with 0 frame skip setting and the action never drops
Below 50fps.

My firmware is last version, and rooted with the build.prop and kwery layout of snesfan.
For neogeo i am using mame4droid 1.52 and tigeraracde 3.05, the last versions.
What emu are you using for neogeo? I cannot find an opengl option anywhere

I'm using mame4droid 1.5.2. Under software rendering in the options menu there are three options with GL being the fastest. Also just browse through the options and read the descriptions for anything that offers a performance increase. You could also try Cpsemu or Neodroid.

Before change the keymapping scheme to SNESFAN Xperia like scheme, I cannot play Trial Xtreme 2 and Trial Extreme 2 Winter, these games now recognizes the hardware keys, but not at all, is impossible to accelerate...

Any solution or workaround for this?

P.D. Sorry for my bad english

When I try running it, I get an hourglass for a couple of seconds and then nothing. It doesn't help UnlockRoot.

PCE.emu has excellent emulation. All CD games and hu-cards run perfect on all my android devices

I stuck at this step too. The problem is because you plug the JXD to your computer while enabled "USB Debugging", so driver can't installed.
To solve this problem, you have to disable "USB Debugging" before plug to your computer, then enable "USB Debugging" while it is connected.

And I'm very thankful to you SNESFAN.

I couldn't get Rondo to work with PCE.emu, I just get loading errors while trying to open the images and the .HCX doesn't show up. When trying to launch them from the file manager I get loading rom failed messages.

The audio tracks are .mp3 so I assume I need to convert them to get them music but I thought the game would work without like it does on Dingoo.
