Ok, bad news, my s601 is defintely dying. Graphics are completely corrupted (even in recovery menu). No matter the cpu speed I use. I¡ve onnected to TV with same result, so probably it's gpu problem. Well, i'm starting to be tired of quality in these devices, two JXD devices dead in no more than a month. Too bad luck. Probably won't spend any money in a future device except something really interesting comes out. The shame is that my device dead just when kernel sources are released.

Oh my.  They included what looks to be their entire build tree... investigating the mali bits ATM... just wondering if there's enough there to build a complete mali driver, which would be handy for any SoC with mali graphics...

(Never really looked at video drivers before, so I suppose I ought to go compare what nouveau and the radeon OSS driver have in the tree... i.e. mali stuff might just be the interfaces to their proprietary blob... still handy maybe...)

This looks like kernel drivers only, there is no OS required stuff unfortunately

I'm thinking this is common with long term use of JXD handhelds. After my s5110 died, My s7100 developed those corrupt graphics problems as well. And I didn't even update to a custom firmware, I only rooted to update emulators. I think we are getting the JXD version of the Xbox red ring of death. Improper cooling.

Unfortunately yinlips doesn't look much better. They aren't listening to feedback to separate digital and analog  dpad either, and the dpad build continues to be a problem. The common gamer doesn't want to open the device to put in a proper dpad.

You are right, lemonlimer. Maybe it's a temperature problem or bad components. By the way, I'm thinking that JXD don't develop their own consoles, at least not all of them:

http://www.kocode.com/cpin_dange.asp?id=214

This console is a perfect clon of s5110, even they use the same firmwar except for the logos, that are from this company. Curious.

It's the same thing as happened to MK802

JXD is just a rebrander/resaler. They take another companys products and put their logo on it. They do tweak the software and make small updates, but they do not product their own products or make them in house.  In the past they took a lot from Yinlips and Sunplus.

I found this:

http://www.alibaba.com/product-gs/566597915/4_3_TFT_LCD_Android_game.html

http://www.alibaba.com/product-gs/569497171/2012_android_game_player_with_Wifi.html

Unfortunately, didn't find any firm for it, sonly for its s5110 clone model.

Yeah.  Unfortunately I concur at this point(spent more time poking through what was there).  No actual mali driver, just the hooks for the kernel...

MK802:  It's bought as a DIY kit.  ONE company makes the PCB, firmware maybe, and possibly the plastic case, but probably doesn't do anything else other than that, i.e. sells the kit components. XYZ company buys PCB & case, puts together the pieces, and voila MK802... which is why they're all missing the ESD protection for the HDMI port and the axp209 power regulation chip...

It is very common to find clone devices here in China. Like many other brand names, Chinese manufacture are very good at cloning. I am doubt that that JXD S5110 clone. I think it will be better than JXD S5110 if it is really with capactive screen and Andriod 4.0 system. I will call them and confirm everything here.

The latest news for the JXD S5110 Clone. It seems like that they used the "wrong" information to introduce their clone products. It is not capactive screen but 3 points touch screen. They just remove JXD's logo and use theirs" KO". At the same time, their price is higher than JXD S5110. I do not think you guys need to consider about it in this case.

Thanks for the information. My only interest in this devices was to get the firmware and see if something is different, so that can be adapted to JXD's one.

It is not capactive screen but 3 points touch screen.
AFAIK resistive touchscreen controllers can handle 2 touch points max (pinch zoom, not a "true" dual touch) so this info most likely also not true.
Unless I'm wrong of course (or it has a capacitive touchscreen)

JXD s5110 is 3 point touch screen. Yeah, It's strange but true. It uses a piezoelectric kind of screen, much more sensitive than an ordinary resistive screen, but not as good as a capacitive one.
