The new cinematic trailer for science fiction RPG Mass Effect 2 openly cribs from the playbook of seminal 1967 guy flick The Dirty Dozen.
Martin Sheen narrates here as The Illusive Man, the mysterious, powerful benefactor who brings commander Shepard back from the dead. We see the revitalized ex-Spectre scour the known universe for any lifeform who can recreate moves from The Matrix.
The action in the trailer’s final gunfight doubles as a Mass Effect 2 tactics tutorial. Note how Shepard and company string together Biotic attacks with straightforward shotgunnery for maximum combat efficiency.
But the clip’s major takeaway is this: Never try to eat a Krogan.
Mass Effect 2 comes out January 26 for the PC and Xbox 360.
