Hidden (just about) under the relentless sun-drenched vistas, this exotic soap is hammering home some serious messages. An explosion of righteous anger about the immorality of travelling to India for a cheap and illegal organ transplant is followed by an example of the grim lack of medical care for the country’s uninsured poor and the arrogance of the wealthy.

Inevitably several of these points come to a head at an extravagant wedding being held by a famous vascular surgeon (EastEnders’ Deepak Verma). Another familiar face on the Karma Hospital’s wards is Sarah-Jane Potts, who was in the American version of Broadchurch.

Summary

Ram clashes with Lydia as a medical case becomes personal on the day he is due to attend a lavish wedding. Ruby treats a patient from the UK whose story does not add up, and the experience leaves her wondering where she really belongs.
