 The 2001 awards

Race in the Media Awards (RIMA) is an annual event organised by the Commission for Racial Equality (CRE) since 1992 to recognise excellence in, and encourage more informed coverage of, race relations.

Previous winners include The Daily Express, The Big Issue and Granada TV.

Guardian Unlimited is sponsoring the website category and supports the aims of the awards - to encourage and reward positive reporting of race issues.

The awards will be announced at a gala luncheon at the Savoy in London in Spring 2001.

 Why does it matter?
