Itinerary Expand all Day 1 Start Ushuaia 27 November 2018 There are no included activities today so you are free to arrive Ushuaia at any time. The group flights usually arrive in the early afternoon. Day 2 Embarkation on the Resolute 28 November 2018 The morning is free to explore Ushuaia and the surrounding area, to do some last minute shopping, stroll around Ushuaia and down to the port or maybe take an excursion to Tierra del Fuego National Park. The transfer to the ship takes place in the afternoon. Once on board there is a get together for introductions to the expedition team, to learn about the ship and its layout, talk about the itinerary for the next 13 days and participate in the obligatory lifeboat drill. Meals included: Breakfast Dinner Days 3-4 Cross the Drake Passage 29-30 November 2018 The vagaries of the Southern Ocean are well documented but this is a fast ship and if the passage is behaving we will be into the peninsula in quick time, giving precious extra hours in this captivating Polar wilderness. The Drake has some of the most dramatic sea bird activity anywhere so with a series of lectures and photographic tutorials plus deck time, the time will fly by. Meals included: Breakfast Lunch Dinner Days 5-11 Explore the South Shetland Islands and Antarctic Peninsula 1-7 December 2018 At this time of year there is plenty of daylight and Paul and Mark intend to maximise every minute of it. Weather permitting they will be making a concerted effort to get through the Eastern Peninsula to Paulet Island where a combination of the most spectacular tabular icebergs in the world and 100,000 Adelie penguins on Paulet Island are pretty seductive mating calls. Throughout the time there will be talks on all aspects of Antarctica from history, geology and of course the heroic age of Exploration. Despite this being the finest ship in its class most of the time will be spent off it examining these priceless bays, harbours and ice shelfs of Antarctica. Whether on foot, Zodiac or on board it is a remarkable wilderness and deserves quality time which is what all participants will receive. Early December is an enticing time to be there as the ice is probably at its most beautiful, the penguin rookeries (Gentoo, Chinstrap, and Adelie) overflowing and even a few of them hatching. There are always transient whales to be seen as well. There is not a rigid, sterile itinerary on this expedition, there never is on these but Exodus are market leader on Polar charters and anyone participating will find out why: it is a tried and tested formula of spending a lot of time at the icy coal face with Mark and Paul at the helm. This is a journey rarely done more than once and no-one is going to be short-changed. The ship and staff will be doing their level best to roll with the capricious nature of the weather and this may involve some very early starts. Meals included: Breakfast Lunch Dinner Day 12 Leave Antarctica and head North 8 December 2018 This journey may have been broken the day before by the South Shetland Islands and if the weather conditions are good an early landing at Half Moon island with its many Chinstraps. Meals included: Breakfast Lunch Dinner Day 13 Sail back through the Drake Passage 9 December 2018 We continue our journey North through the Drake Passage. Meals included: Breakfast Lunch Dinner Day 14 Disembark and end in Ushuaia 10 December 2018 We arrive into Ushuaia early this morning where our adventure ends. Meals included: Breakfast
