Transportation: 
METRO RTA Akron
Take the Akron-Cleveland Shuttle to the Robert K Pfaff Transit Center (631 S. Broadway, Akron) Transfer to the University of Akron Roo Bus or the METRO #2. The #2 stops at 322 East Exchange Street, directly across from the Lee R. Jackson Track Complex. To return, the Roo Bus will pick up participants at the venue and return to the Transit Center OR participants can catch the #2 at the corner of East Exchange and Brown Street toward the Transit Center. From the Transit Center, board the Akron-Cleveland Shuttle to return to Cleveland.

The Lee R. Jackson Track and Field Complex is a state of the art facility, with a track that boasts eight lanes of Rekortan running surface, and has been home to several major track and field events.

Transportation

The University of Akron and Lee R. Jackson Track and Field Complex is located approximately 40 miles south of downtown Cleveland, and approximately 2 miles from downtown Akron, Ohio. 2014 Gay Games is currently working on providing transportation for this event. 

Events and Divisions

Individual Track Events for both men’s and women’s divisions will consist of:

100m 200m 400m 800m 1500m
5000m 110m (or 100m for women) Hurdles 400m Hurdles 3000m Steelplechase 5000m Race Walking

 

Relay events for men’s, women’s, and mixed will consist of:

100m 200m 400m

 

Individual Field Events for both men’s and women’s divisions will consist of:

Long Jump High Jump Triple Jump Pole Vault
Shot Put Hammer Throw Discus Throw Javelin Throw

 

Additional Events will consist of:

Men's Decathlon Women's Heptathlon

 

Each individual event will have age groups within the men’s and women’s divisions. The three best times in each division’s age group will receive a medal. A participant’s age group is determined by that person’s age as of the first day of competition, 9 August 2014. The age groups are as follows:

18-29 30-34 35-39 40-44
45-49 50-54 55-59 60-64
65-69 70-74 75-79 80-84
85-89 90-94 95-99 100+

 

The relay team age group shall be determined by the youngest member on the team.  The age groups are as follows:

18-29 30-39 40-49 50-59
60-69 70-79 80-89 90-99
100+      

 

Each event will have age groups within the men’s, women’s, and mixed age divisions. The best three times in each division’s age group will receive a medal.

Participation

Relay teams will consist of four participants.  Teams may compete in the men’s, women’s, and mixed categories.  Mixed teams shall consist of two men and two women.

An athlete may compete only in one age division throughout the competition.

Each competitor can enter each event only once. 

Competitors may run each distance both as an individual and as part of a relay team. Example: a female can run a 400m race, a 400m women's relay and a 400m mixed relay.

Track and field equipment will be provided by 2014 Gay Games.  Examples include: shots, discuses, and hammers.

*We highly suggest and encourage participants to bring their own implements

Rules

The meet will use the rules of the International Association of Athletics Federation (IAAF) and USA Track and Field (USATF), and supplemented by rules of the Gay Games, which will be posted at least three months before the events.

Rules for progression from heats and qualifying rounds are determined by the number of competitors who present for competition on the day. If heats are not required due to insufficient confirmations of entries, then the semi-final or final will be staged at the pre-published time and date and not held at the time of the qualifying round.
