Simon Leadley of Trackdown Music Services at Fox Studios Australia in Sydney was the supervising music editor for Moulin Rouge. He was directly responsible for editing and mixing the soundtrack for Moulin Rouge, and used VXA-1 tape drives to store more than two years worth of data from the blockbuster film's musical soundtrack. Trackdown Music Services previously used DDS-2 and DDS-4 tape drives and then switched to VXA technology after certain DDS (DAT) drive issues. "The VXA-1 tape drive backs-up speedily and reliably and I have not had one instance of a failure to restore in the year or so that I have been hammering it on a daily basis," Stated Simon Leadley, supervising music editor for Moulin Rouge. "Compare this to the DDS-2 and DDS-4 tapes that I have been using which have let me down continually both from a hardware and a software perspective, and you will see why I am so enthusiastic about the VXA tape drive." After the initial release of the soundtrack, the producers of Moulin Rouge reenlisted the services of Trackdown Music to develop the soundtrack for the DVD version of the movie. As standard practice, Trackdown had recorded other projects over the working copies of the Moulin Rouge files on their disk drives to conserve space.
