Subscription elevator status alerts
You can now subscribe to receive text or e-mail alerts about unplanned outages and service restoration of elevators at CTA rail stations systemwide. Alerts are available individual rail lines or all rail lines, with information on when elevators are taken out of service for maintenance or repair, and when they resume operation.
(Be sure to sign up for upcoming, planned service changes such as reroutes and elevator maintenance, too!)

All Stations Accessibility Plan (ASAP)
As part of the ADA 25 Chicago celebration event held in January 2016, CTA President Carter introduced the new All Stations Accessibility Program (ASAP) – a new planning effort to establish a blueprint to make the CTA rail system 100 percent accessible over the next 20 years.
By early 2017, we will have for the first time ever, a comprehensive plan outlining project plans, station concepts and cost estimates with a goal of achieving 100% accessibility within the next 20 years. This plan will prioritize both short-term and long-term accessibility improvement projects, as well as identify and plan for repairs and/or replacement of 155 existing station elevators.

CTA's ADA Compliance Manager selected for national taskforce
The Chicago Transit Authority’s Manager of ADA Compliance Programs, Amy Serpe has been selected to serve on a subcommittee of a national task force created by The Council of State Governments to help state policymakers remove employment barriers for people with disabilities.
CSG, in partnership with the National Conference of State Legislatures, organized the National Task Force on Workforce Development for People with Disabilities to help state leaders identity barriers to employment at the state level and provide them with policy recommendations to address those barriers.
The effort is funded by the State Exchange on Employment and Disability, or SEED, initiative of the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Disability Employment Policy.
The National Task Force on Workforce Development for People with Disabilities consists of foursubcommittees: Career Readiness and Employability; Hiring; Retention and Re-entry; Entrepreneurship and Tax Incentives; and Technology, Transportation and Other Employment Supports.
Ms. Serpe serves on the Transportation, Technology and Other Supports subcommittee.
The task force convened March 19-20 in Chicago and will meet in Washington D.C. later this spring. The policy recommendations will be unveiled at a policy academy during the 2016 CSG National Conference in Colonial Williamsburg, Va., Dec. 8-11.
