The results of our inaugural Fan Favourite Award presented by Evans Hunt and Stone-Olafson are in!
CALL ME BY YOUR NAME directed by Luca Guadagnino, with not only the highest score, but the most votes overall! This Italian coming-of-age story about forbidden love, starring Armie Hammer and Timothee Chalamet, garnered rave reviews not only at our festival, but at others around the world such as Sundance, TIFF, and BFI London.
This new award was voted on by fans who saw 10+ films at the festival. The award was tallied by a ranked ballot - and there was a lot of competition, as each voter saw an average of 19 films during the 12 days of the festival! We'd like to thank our partners and friends at Evans Hunt for their vision and support, and the team at Stone-Olafson for developing the statistical methods, verifying the votes, and doing most of the tough math involved!
Rounding out the top five favourite films are:
A DAY
BORG/MCENROE
THE DIVINE ORDER
THE SQUARE
If you missed CALL ME BY YOUR NAME during the festival, you'll be able to catch the film when it opens in Calgary this winter. This is one to keep an eye on as awards season gets underway. Thanks to our sponsors for helping us implement this new award, which is pretty unique to film festivals, and to all of our dedicated fans who took the time to vote!
