The Seahawks made a change to their 53-man roster Tuesday, promoting defensive tackle Rodney Coe off the practice squad. Defensive tackle Garrison Smith was waived to make room on the roster.
Coe, 24, entered the league as an undrafted free agent out of Akron in 2016, signing with Dallas. After being released by the Cowboys, Coe spent time on the Buccaneers’ and Jaguars’ practice squads last season, then signed a future contract with Seattle in January. Coe, who is 6-foot-3, 315 pounds, was waived by the Seahawks prior to the start of the regular season, then signed to Seattle’s practice squad last month.
Smith has spent parts of the past two seasons with the Seahawks, appearing in nine games and recording 10 tackles.
The Seahawks also added two players to the practice squad, signing offensive lineman Willie Beavers and tight end Steve Donatell. Fullback Kyle Coleman was released from the practice squad.
Beavers, a fourth-round pick in the 2016 draft out of Western Michigan, appeared in two games with Minnesota last season. Beavers also spent time on the practice squad with Minnesota and New England this year. Donatell, an undrafted rookie out of Western Kentucky, spent training camp with the Seahawks.
