Mono Lake Area

The Mono Lake area is beautiful! This is our northernmost region of the High Sierra, and it runs from the June Lake area all the way up to Bridgeport. All of the launches in this area have amazing views of the Sierra and Mono Lake, and all can be reached by a normal car, except Tioga Peak and the Mono Craters.

When the Bishop and Lone Pine area is blowing up with thunder cells and crazy valley winds, decent conditions can often be found in the Mono Lake area. Here the base elevation is much higher, and is a bit more protected from the valley winds of the Owen’s Valley. If you are coming from Tahoe or the Bay Area, this is your closest area for High Sierra flying!
