Ordzhonikidze Moscow Aviation Institute, 1979, with a mechanical engineering diploma; engineer at NPO Energiya; was selected as cosmonaut on 25.01.1989 by GMVK (NPOE-9); OKP (cosmonaut basic training): 4/89 - 1/91; hobbies: fishing, skiing, picking mushrooms; retired from the cosmonaut corps to become change flight control officer in TsUP in Korolyov; in December 2007 elected as member of the Russian Parliament Duma.
