Android Gaming Tablet Wikipad to make its long awaited debut on June 11th at E3 2013

Android Gaming Tablet Wikipad to make its long awaited debut on June 11th at E3 2013

With E3 being right around the corner, it feels fitting for most companies to come up with their new devices during this time of the year. One such device is the Wikipad which has supposedly been in the news since almost a year but we never actually got to see the device in existence…till now ! According to the guys behind this new and upcoming controller-enabled Android gaming tablet would be made available to public starting June 11th, the same day E3 kicks off. Smart move on the part of the company isn’t it ? The Wikipad is a 7-inch tablet that comes with NVIDIA’s quad-core Tegra 3 chipset, 1GB of RAM, 16GB of internal storage with a microSD card slot for up to 32GB of additional storage, a 2 megapixel front-facing camera, HDMI-out, GPS, Bluetooth 4.0, WiFi N and of-course Android 4.1 Jelly Bean (its an Android tablet after all). The gaming slate also comes with a special dock, which connects to the Wikipad from the bottom with a proprietary connector. Its somewhat designed similar to the Xbox 360 controller, though according to the company there is little relation to Microsoft’s nearly seven-year-old design. The controller features two sets of triggers, bumpers, and analog sticks, as well as four face buttons, start, and select and is designed to cover the speakers and flow sound through acoustic tubes out the front grill for better audio performance. The dock also has a port to connect it to a power source on the back. As per the company’s official announcement, the Wikipad would be sold for $250 and would easily be available from Walmart, Bestbuy and TigerDirect who are the initial retailers in the United States. Availability of the device in other parts of the world was not mentioned but we are anticipating it to be as soon as it starts rolling out in the US. With other gaming devices such as the Ouya and the not so long ago announced Nvidia’s own little gaming wonder boy SHIELD, expected to launch some time this year, looking at the price and specs of the Wikipad could surely make it a good competitor for the aforementioned devices. So which one would you guys be going for ? Do share in some of those gaming instincts of yours with us. Cheers...

Introducing The World’s First Dual OS Tablet – The ASUS Transformer AiO

Introducing The World’s First Dual OS Tablet – The ASUS Transformer AiO

ASUS have made a good name for themselves when it comes to creating devices with dual functionality. It was just last week at MWC where the company unveiled the FonePad which is a first of a kind tablet which can make phone calls. Today the Taiwanese Tech giants have unveiled another work of marvel with the launch of the ASUS Transformer AiO. The device which measures close to 18 inches is not just your ordinary Tablet which you can carry around everywhere. What it is actually is a dual booting Hybrid Entertainment Center which runs on both Android and Microsoft’s Windows 8 Operating System. Confused ? Surprised ? Well to be very honest we were too when we first laid our eyes on this little monster.   Now coming to the interesting side of things. Let us begin with the hardware which this little piece of marvel has to offer. The tablet is actually a 2 in 1 computing machine which when detached from its docking station, turns into a full fledged Tablet and while it is docked, it actually functions as a full juiced up PC. The hardware which differs for both the Tablet and the PC is divided into two parts. The tablet (when not docked) which runs on Android 4.1 Jellybean comes juiced up with an Nvidia Tegra 3 processing chip, 2GB RAM and 32 GB of internal storage. Impressed ? Now wait till you read further and find out as to exactly what ASUS have in store for us on the PC side of things.    Well to begin with, the device does come to life on its large and bright 18 inch 1920×1080 LED display, which currently makes the AiO the largest commercial Android tablet (at least for now). As mentioned earlier, the Windows 8 powered device (it doesn’t sound right to call an 18 inch device a TABLET does it?) surely packs a punch. It comes bundled with a a third-generation Intel Core i5-3350P CPU, 8GB DDR3 RAM and 1TB of storage. Sounds intriguing doesn’t it ? To be very honest, we were a little perplexed to see Windows 8 and Android side-by-side on this kind of device, not least due to Microsoft’s keenness to promote Windows’ tablet credentials. But ASUS is also touting the AiO’s ability to run Windows 8 in remote desktop mode on the tablet UI, so you’ll  have that option open to you while you’re in tablet mode and that is quite a smart move on ASUS’s part. The Trasnformer AiO which is scheduled to release sometime during the second quarter of 2013 in North America is rumored to be priced at around $1299. We’ll be on high alert once the device...

Samsung unveil new 8-core Exynos 5 Octa processor at CES 2013

Samsung unveil new 8-core Exynos 5 Octa processor at CES 2013

We all knew that CES was supposed to be full of surprises and that is exactly what it has turned out to be till now. The four day event has paved a way for both companies and developers alike to showcase their respective talents and enthrall the world with new and innovative sate of the art products. With that said, Samsung do lead the race when it comes to innovation and creativity which is indeed a fact and that is exactly what the Korean tech giants are doing since the very first day of the mega event. From UHD televisions to flexible displays to many other things to say the least and if that was not enough, wait till you find out in the next few lines as to exactly what Samsung has in store for you next.     Samsung today unveiled the world’s first Exynos 8-Core mobile chip called the 8-core Octa Core Chip of Cortex A15 and Cortex A7 CPU cores in a “Big.Little” configuration. The Big.Little architecture uniquely combines very low-power cores like the one present in the Cortex A7 with higher end performance cores like the ones found in the Cortex A15 which gives an extremely well blended mix of performance and and optimized battery life. The Exynos chipset features two quad-core SoCs, with one being an ARM Cortex-A15 based implementation clocked at 1.8GHz, while the other is an ARM Cortex-A7 implementation at 1.2GHz. The former will be used for the usual CPU-intensive tasks such as gaming, web browsing, HD video playback and more. If you aren’t doing these things then the phone will favor the weaker (but still powerful), more battery friendly set of cores.     As mentioned earlier, this indeed would be the first 8-core processor for handheld devices  and is most certainly ready to surpass its predecessor, the Quad-core chip currently running in all the so called “powerful” devices. The one question that does happen to arise now is that whether this beast of a chip be able to beat the likes of the new monster unleashed by Nvidia, The Tegra 4 with its 72 GPU cores ? We’ll have to wait and see....
