Friends of the 117th Battalion,   

Since 2006 I have been the custodian and chief researcher of this website. The original concept of this webpage was to give a virtual presence to those who served with the 117th Battalion. It was also my wish to complete a webpage for every 117th Battalion soldier. Unfortunately, this goal is not attainable and no further uploads will be made. I, therefore, reluctantly announce that 2018 will be the last year of this website. In keeping with the history and spirit of the 117th Battalion I feel it appropriate to continue this website through 2017 which is 100 years since the disbandment of the 117th Battalion, and into 2018 which will mark 100 years since the end of The Great War.   

Over the past 10 years I have had the pleasure of corresponding and meeting with fellow CEF hobbyists, collectors, and historians who assisted me in ensuring the historical accuracy in my research. More importantly, however, I have had the honour of meeting many relatives of the very soldiers I have been researching. Without their support and enthusiasm this website would not have been possible. I thank you very much.   

There has been a resurgence of interest in the miltary history of the Eastern Townships over the past few years. Although I am not a Townshipper, I like to think that I was part of this resurgence and I take solace in knowing that the history of the 117th Battalion rests in good hands with those in the Townships who continue to research this once proud Battalion.
