Central member of CPN-UML Krishna Gopal Shrestha was born on October 1, 1958 in Kathmandu. Son of Hari Lal Shrestha and Hari Maya Shrestha, Krishna Gopal Shrestha has a son and two daughters. He holds a Master's Degree in Economics. He is contesting from Kathmandu-9 in the CA Election 2013 representing CPN-UML.
Shrestha remembers her mother raising him by working as a labor. His parents were living in rent at a residence of a Rana family in Kathmandu, where he was born. He did not get to go to study since childhood but had learnt a lot from his acquaintance with the sons of the landlord. He was later admitted directly to Grade 5 and completed his studies.
In 1979, he became a member of CPN (ML). He took active participation in the first Nepal Bandh called by the ANNFSU in 1981. He went to jail on multiple occasions in course of the student and party movements. He became the party's district committee secretary in 1982. Four years later, he became secretary of Bhaktapur and again of Lalitpur in 1990. He has remained in the party central committee since 1998.
He was elected from Kathmandu-5 in the by-election of 1992 after earlier winner Madan Bhandari left the seat. He also won the legislative election of 1994 from Kathmandu-7. However, he was defeated in the 1999 parliamentary elections in Kathmandu-9. He contested from the same constituency in the CA Election 2008 but was defeated again.
He was appointed as local development minister in 2005.

People walk for 3-4 hours to vote. The leaders, however, use helicopter to cover a distance of even just an hour's walking distance. Why does the EC not see this?

Those who capture booths are cowards, no matter whichever party carries it out. This is a disregard to the people's ballot. The election should be cancelled if the booth is captured.
