Sannie Charlotte Carlson is de echte naam van de op 11 april 1970 geboren Deense zangeres Whigfield. Als kind heeft ze jaren in Afrika gewoond. Voor haar muziekcarrière werkte ze als model en studeerde ze muziek. Ze was actief in een jazzduo voordat ze producer Larry Pignagnoli ontmoette. De naam Whigfield is een eerbetoon aan haar pianoleraar.

In 1994 scoorde ze met Saturday Night een enorme zomerhit in Europa, Canada en Azië. Ze haalde het Guinness Book of Records door in Groot-Brittannië als eerste buitenlandse artiest binnen te komen op de eerste plaats.

In Nederland heeft Saturday Night twaalf weken in de Top 40 gestaan, met de 7e plaats als hoogste notering. In 1996 scoort ze met Sexy Eyes haar vijfde Top 40-hit.

Inmiddels treedt ze op onder haar eigen naam Sannie.
