Update: The Weeknd has confirmed via his Instagram that a new piece of music entitled "My Dear Melancholy" is set to be released, and based on the clues described below, it appears to be a full album.

It has only been about a year and a half since he dropped his last full-length, but it seems like The Weeknd is ready to gift his fans with another collection, and if the clues are all correct, it could arrive as early as tonight.

There were already rumors swirling about a possible new album from the Canadian Grammy winner, but those whispers of upcoming tunes were all but confirmed today (March 29) when a billboard went up in London that appears to be an ad for a new record. The simple black and red poster is advertising My Dear Melancholy, with the text “New Album from The Weeknd. Available Now” written just underneath the purported album title.

Images of the billboard began circulating on Twitter today, and since the album hasn't appeared in any download stores or on any streaming platforms, it’s safe to assume that it was posted early and that the album is imminent. Since the text advertises that My Dear Melancholy is available now, it’s likely coming sooner, rather than later, with tomorrow being a probable street date.

The recently-spotted billboard in the U.K. is just the latest clue that supports the theory that a new Weeknd album is set to arrive on Friday. Earlier this week, the R&B/pop superstar got people talking after he uploaded an image to his Instagram that appears to be a screenshot from his texts. In the message, the person we are made to assume is the musician himself asks the question “should we drop Friday? I’m indifferent to be honest.”

Many quickly guessed that a new single might have been planned for the end of this work week, but now it appears a full-length is set to be unleashed instead.

My Dear Melancholy will be The Weeknd’s fourth proper album, and his first since 2016’s Starboy, which was a massive hit all around the world. While he has largely stopped promoting that record, it did take home the Grammy for Best Urban Contemporary Album last month, and he currently has a hit single in the form of Kendrick Lamar's  Black Panther soundtrack cut “Pray for Me,” which features The Weeknd, so it’s not as if he’s been quiet lately.
