Kal The Koala

Kal The Koala

Pattern written and designed by Ashley Turck

This is a very easy pattern that's worked from the bottom up and you can make the small one or bigger one with just changing the yarn and hook size. You will need to know how to attach legs together. Please read over the entire pattern before starting just to get an idea of how it's done.
Most of all just Have fun!

Materials for larger koala

Gray and black  worsted weight yarn (I used knitpicks Brava Worsted in dove Heather and black) a small amount of white and green
3.5 mm hook
12 mm safety eyes
Stitch marker
Yarn needle
Fiber fill

Materials for small koala

3.25 mm hook
Gray and black sport weight yarn(I used knitpicks Comfy Sport Yarn in whisker, black, and white) and a small amount of green yarn
9 mm safety eyes
Stitch marker
Yarn needle
Fiber fill

Terms

Sc- single crochet (for my sc I insert hook yarn under pull through, then yarn over and pull through)  you may get a slightly larger amigurumi when using the normal yarn over for the entire stitch.
Mc- Magic circle
Inc- increase
Dec – decrease (recommend invisible decrease)
Sl st- slip stitch
FO- finish off
Dc- Double crochet
HDC- half double crochet
Tr-triple crochet
Ch- chain
Sc2tog- single crochet two together (decrease)
*-repeat

Important please read:  You will be working in continuous rounds so do not join. Use a stitch marker to keep track of each round.

Make sure you leave long tails after each body part so you can sew on to the body. Be sure to crochet tightly so there are no holes, or try going down a hook size.

To change color:  You can insert your hook into the last stitch of the round, yarn over and pull through, then yarn over in new color and pull through. Slip st into next stitch.  You can  sc over  yarn tails a  few  stitches then  tie  and tuck  in the back. Don’t forget to count the sl st in the next round.

We will be starting with the legs and attaching them to each other then working the body and head all in one piece.
