Former Bristol City Manager Named Head of Coaching and Development
Blackpool FC can confirm that Keith Millen has been appointed as the club's new Head of Coaching and Development.The 45-year-old has a wealth of coaching experience having previously been the assistant manager and manager of Bristol City, while his playing career took in stints at Brentford and Watford, as well as The Robins.
Manager Ian Holloway is delighted to welcome Keith to his staff, in a role which will see him working with players in the Development Squad.
"We've got a new member of staff in Keith Millen and he's been brought in by myself and the chairman to actually fill a gap in the club, a gap that's in most clubs which is a development coach who I can leave the squad that I'm not taking and training with," he said.
"I'll now have someone of a great ilk to take and carry on the work that I want to do with them. It means that they'll be encouraged all the time, even if they're not in the first-team. I've managed to get a fella who has been working for 12 years and been a Championship manager in his own right. He'll now work with me to help my young lads and I feel really proud and very pleased with the progress we're making."
Millen himself is delighted to be back on the training field and is looking forward to working closely with the manager to ensure that the brand of football remains consistent.
"I spoke to the gaffer after Wembley and I did some scouting for him last year so I know the gaffer really well. There's a good group there of development lads that need work and I'm looking forward to working with them. We've got to make sure that whatever the first-team does filters through the club," he added.
