CLEVELAND, Ohio- Cuyahoga County's Communications Department is now conversing with residents who have registered on Nextdoor, a private social media site for neighborhoods.

Social media specialist Jordyn Scolaro recently introduced herself Tuesday to those on the network.

"Hi, Neighbors - My name is Jordyn and I work in the communications department for Cuyahoga County and I am pleased to let you know that starting today, the department will commence using Nextdoor's government interface to partner with you and your neighbors to build community, promote services & events, and work together to make your neighborhood an even greater place to live and play!" she wrote.

"As a member of Nextdoor that lives in Cuyahoga County, you'll automatically get our messages. Should you wish to unsubscribe, you may do so via this link: bit.ly/NDagency "

The county and other public agencies are not able to see personal profiles or content from neighborhoods. The agencies only see their own posts and replies to those posts.

The county will respond to replies to its messages as time allows. Residents cannot use Nextdoor to request emergency services.
