Taste test review

At each of the restaurants we all sampled five beef burgers: A plain burger, a burger chosen by the restaurant, two burgers chosen by Cleveland's Best manager Kristen Davis and Yadi Rodriguez and a burger selected by Cleveland's Best celebrity host, comedian Mike Polk.

PLAIN BEEF BURGER

Mike Polk says: This was a delicious burger.

Yadi Rodriguez says: Really good, thick burger.

Kristen Davis says: Thick burger with a nice char on the ends.

RESTAURANT'S CHOICE

Patty Melt - The famous 1/2 lb. beamer burger patty, grilled to your specifications with grilled onions, American cheese (yellow & white) on grilled rye.

Polk says: This was a two-hander! Dense and delicious. Felt like home.

Rodriguez says: Perfectly melted cheese on this burger, good amount of grilled sliced onions.

Davis says: Loaded, lots of onions and toppings.

DAVIS' CHOICE

Beamer - Three slices of bacon, sauteed mushrooms, grilled onions, American cheese (yellow and white) lettuce, tomato served on a toasted Texas bun.

Polk says: There is a reason this burger has a reputation. It's a tasty, substantial, traditional bar burger.

Rodriguez says: Delicious, perfectly cooked burger with nice crunchy thick slices of bacon.

Davis says: Lots of flavors between these buns.

RODRIGUEZ'S CHOICE

Jake's By-pass - Grilled cheese sandwich on top and bottom (four pieces) in between a beamer burger patty, three strips of bacon, fried egg, lettuce, tomato, and onion.

Polk says: I've always been a sucker for any dish named after a heart condition. This thing was deliciously dangerous.

Rodriguez says: Grilled cheese as the bun? What? Who would have thought this would work... but it does. Definitely a burger for two.

Davis says: Not as thick as you would imagine. Thin bread makes it easy to eat.

POLK'S CHOICE

King Royal - American cheese, "crowned" with a fried egg.

Polk says: This was an exceptional and tasty hamburger but it wasn't my favorite.

Rodriguez says: Another burger with a fried egg. A good choice if you like this. Great patty.

Davis says: I don't understand egg on a burger.
