While everyone is seemingly focused on the terrifying 2016 Olympics that are almost underway, the International Olympic Committee today announced that skateboarding will be an official Olympic sport, beginning in 2020. In addition, they have also disclosed that baseball/softball, karate, sports climbing and surfing will also be competitive categories in the upcoming Tokyo Olympics.

The vote recently took place during the 129th IOC Session in Rio de Janeiro, as skateboarding was a unanimous “yes.”

For the Olympics, skateboarding will operate under the supervision of the Tokyo 2020 Skateboarding Commission. Events will include men’s and women’s park and street events, with a total of 80 skaters competing in each category.

The decision arrives as the International Olympic Committee hopes to lure younger viewers to the games.

The 2020 Summer Olympics will take place in Tokyo from July 24 to August 9.
