Trent McCleary is retiring his foundation but continuing fundraising efforts
(Submitted)
Though the foundation has ceased, McCleary and Moen have now partnered with the WMBL Championship Swift Current Indians Baseball Club to continue the Foundation’s legacy initiatives while assisting the SC Indians meet the financial requirements of WMBL membership. Marleau¹s on-going commitments in San Jose prevent him from participating, but his dedication to the charity and tournament over the past 11 years has been appreciated.
“We are extremely grateful for the long-term support of our sponsors and golfers,” said Moen and McCleary. “And we are confident our new partnership will ensure we continue to work together to support our community for many years to come.”
It was agreed upon by all three parties that it was important to continue to see local established programs like Boys and Girls On the Move, Outdoor Hockey and Elmwood Golf Course Family Night be supported. The McCleary-Moen Swift Current Indians Golf Classic will essentially take the place of the foundation with respect to supporting those community programs. Once the commitment to those programs has been met, the remaining revenue will be utilized by the Indians Ball Club.
“We are very excited to partner with McCleary and Moen in this initiative,” stated Swift Current Indians President Brad Woods. “As an organization we rely heavily on the support of the community to operate each year. This golf tournament will give us an avenue to give back to the community along side these two great ambassadors of the Southwest.”
The tournament is scheduled for Monday, June 20 with a shotgun start at 1 PM and supper to follow.
