Thirty-five men under Foreman David Brown stood twenty-two feet below the bed of the Hudson River in the southernmost tube of the four vehicular tunnels which are being driven under the water from the foot of Canal Street, Manhattan, to the Jersey shore, at 7:45 o'clock yesterday morning and watched a trickle of water seeping through the roof just in the rear of the shield which heads the boring.
