Kempegowda award for 234 personalities

BANGALORE: After a gap of four years, BBMP has decided to give away the prestigious Kempegowda awards to the 234 dignitaries.
The award will be presented on the Kempegowda Day to be celebrated on April 18, said mayor S K Nataraj. The awardees are from various fields, including medicine, education, media, sports, theatre, literature, environment, folklore, music, yogasana, judiciary, social service and astrology.

The award winners include ophthalmologist Dr Bhujang Shetty of Narayana Nethralaya, flutist Praveen Godkindi, joint commissioner of police (crime) Alok Kumar, artistes such as Sunil Puranik, Sanjay Soori, Thara and Sihikahi Chandru, advocate general Ashok Haranahalli, hotelier Sadanand Mayya, Kannada Sahitya Parishath president Nallur Prasad and Dr B N Ganagadhar of Nimhans among others.
