Baryshnikov To Hit Road With 'Man In A Case'

Show Premiered At Hartford Stage

Mikhail Baryshnikov will be continuing his role in the stage adaptation of Anton Chekhov’s “Man in a Case,” which had its world premiered at Hartford Stage last season, with a national tour of the mixed media show.

The 2013-2014 national tour will include stops in Washington, D.C.; Berkeley, CA; Boston, MA; Santa Monica, CA; and Chicago, IL.

The tour begins with Shakespeare Theater Company at the Landsburgh Theater in Washington D.C. Dec. 5 to 22,; followed by Berkeley Rep Roda Theater in Berkeley, CA Jan. 25 to Feb. 16; ArtsEmerson, Emerson College Cutler Majestic Theater in Boston, Feb. 25 to March 2; Madison Concert Series Edith and Eli Broad Stage in Santa Monica, CA April 24 to May 10; and the Museum of Contemporary Art in Chicago, May 15 to 18.

The show which played Hartford last winter is based on two of Anton Chekov's short stories, “Man in a Case” and “About Love.” Annie-B Parson and Paul Lazar, the team behind the internationally acclaimed Big Dance Theater, co-created the work with Baryshnikov, fusing theater, dance, music and video.
