The forward scored the winning goal at the San Mamés in the 2007/8 campaign.
The star of Historic Goals this week, is Ruud van Nistelrooy. He was one of the best strikers of his generation thanks to a real goal-scoring instinct and impressive finishing skills. He showed just how good he was during his time at Real Madrid, scoring 64 goals, some of them truly outstanding.

One such goal came at the San Mamés on the 8th of December 2007. Real Madrid visited Athletic and Van Nistelrooy got the only goal of the game in a crucial 0-1 win, which moved the Whites one step closer to their LaLiga triumph at the end of that season. The goal came about as the Dutchman intercepted a pass deep inside the Athletic half, carried the ball a few steps and unleashed a powerful drive into the top corner from outside the area.
Van Nistelrooy showed off his quality time and again during 4 seasons at Real Madrid, during which time he made 96 appearances. In his time at the club, he won the Pichichi Trophy in the 2006/07 campaign and won three titles: 2 LaLigas and 1 Spanish Super Cup.
