Lyn Lake Chiropractic incorporates the Graston technique

January 11, 2018

Lyn Lake Chiropractic incorporates the Graston technique along with chiropractic, massage and other amazing therapies. Lyn Lake Chiropractic get good results using Graston within two or three visits.

The Graston Technique tools are excellent tools that we use to help break up myofascial adhesions. Using stainless steel tools, we can perform what is essentially a highly targeted and intense deep tissue massage. This new, localized inflammation, helps to increase blood-flow and promote the healing process, breaks down scar tissue and creates proper healing.

Lyn Lake Chiropractic focuses on a non-drug approach, so we mostly rely on our hands to adjust and put the vertebrae back in place very gently. We help to normalize the nervous system.  Chiropractic adjustment is very important when it comes to and getting patients better. When you introduce the soft tissue component, that’s when we get the best possible results. Many Quick read more or view full article chiropractors believe in the crack and go method, just walk in lay down get adjusted and your done.  We find using all our tools can help someone  with neck pain, lower back pain, running injuries and more.

I don’t get it, we believe the mis-aligned spine is a major issue, but if one doesn’t address the injured or tight muscles around your spine, then how can that crack and go stay in place?

Furthermore, the changes and recovery happen a lot faster with more muscle work, more hands on therapy.  The adjustments alone can only provide so much of the success, massage, stretching, Graston and more physiotherapy would make more sense in keeping you out of pain or when you are in pain to help you heal faster and properly.

Remember To Go To Lyn Lake Chiropractic Regularly- Especially if you are ill, in pain, under a lot of stress, pregnant or in an accident or trauma. Remember, it is much easier to prevent having an injury or a problem than it is to correct or fix the issue.

Sleeping is very important - take care of your neck and back

January 10, 2018

Sleeping is very important since you should be sleeping at least eight hours a night.  Sleeping on a soft bed or couch can strain your neck and back muscles during the 8 hours you should be sleeping. Your spine is not adequately supported. Sleeping on your stomach is not recommended since it can cause additional strain on your neck and back. Make sure you have a mid to firm mattress that keeps the spine supported and helps maintain your spinal curvatures.

The best sleeping positions are on your back or side.  A pillow can be placed under the knees when lying on your back to take pressure off of the lower back. A good pillow that supports the curve of your neck is almost if not more important, if you sleeping on your side make sure the pillow is keeping your neck supported.

We get patients coming with neck pain and Quick read more or view full article back pain after sleeping, one of the first few questions we ask is what type of mattress they sleep on and what about the pillow.  It’s amazing how many people tells us they know they need a new bed or pillow but after we get them out of pain and correct the spine we try to help them decide what is a good supportive bed for them and what type of pillow will work best for everyone.  Regards to pillows, start slow - we don’t think you need to go out a buy an expensive pillow with all the bells and whistles, but a pillow you feel is right for you.

We would be glad to have you come and we can help you figure out what type of bed or pillow you might or should have. Remeber regular chiropractic care is always very important to take care of your spine.

Remember To Lyn Lake Chiropractic Regularly-Especially if you are ill, under a lot of stress, pregnant or in an accident or trauma. Remember, it is much easier to prevent having an injury or a problem than it is to correct or fix the issue.

How You Can Help Improve Your Back Health

January 1, 2017
How You Can Help Improve Your Back Health
While one of our primary goals for all of our North East Minneapolis chiropractic patients is to give you the best musculoskeletal health possible, the reality is that we can only do so much in the few minutes a week that we see you. This means that a bulk of the responsibility falls back on you and the behaviors you do or do not engage in that can ultimately affect your back health.
What types of behaviors?
  • Paying attention to your posture. When you walk, stand, or sit with poor posture, you’re not only fatiguing your muscles as they work to keep you upright, but you also limit your mobility as your discs and joints fall out of line. One way to break this habit is to put a sticky note someplace where Quick read more or view full article you will see it often, reminding you to sit or stand up straight.
  • Taking your vitamins. Certain vitamins and minerals can help improve the strength and stability of your spine. These include vitamin D and calcium, the two nutrients that Harvard Medical School calls the “keys to strong bones.”
  • Drinking enough water. When you’re born, your spinal discs are comprised of 80 percent water. This enables them to work as they should. Therefore, in order to keep them operating at maximum function, you want to make sure you drink enough water.
  • Getting more active. If you tend to spend a lot of time sitting, you may notice the effects in your back due to the inactivity. Of course, the way to remedy this is to simply get more physical activity. Even if it’s not a standard exercise program, anything you can do to move around more can help.
  • Letting go of your ego. Sometimes it’s easier to do things yourself versus asking for help. However, if you lift things that are too heavy or awkward for you, then you risk injuring your back, potentially setting you up for massive problems both immediately and later in life. Ask for help when you need it. It may keep you from being in pain, making it more than worth it.
All of these things, in addition to regular chiropractic treatments, can help you improve the health of your back. If you want more ideas, just ask us the next time you’re in our Northeast Minneapolis chiropractic office! We’d love to help you get and stay back pain-free!

Spring Exercises Easy on Your Back

March 24, 2016
Spring Exercises Easy on Your Back

With spring and summer on the horizon, we’ve noticed that many of our Minneapolis chiropractic patients are itching to get outdoors and get more active in the yard, the garden, or to just do more exercise outside in general. While this is good news because our bodies need regular activity in order to stay healthy, if you’ve spent a majority of the winter months indoors and on the couch, then you risk overdoing it if you’re not careful.

This can easily result in back pain, as well as pain in other areas, which makes knowing which movements are easy on your spine important to enjoying the warmer weather as much as you can. Which ones are those?

Shape Up America, a non-profit organization developed by former Surgeon General, the late Dr. C. Everett Koop, states that if Quick read more or view full article you walk 10,000 steps per day, you’ll be in a better position to avoid weight gain, if not to lose a few of those winter pounds. That’s good news as research has also found that this particular activity is effective at alleviating lower back pain, even if only done two or three times a week for 20 to 40 minutes at a time.

Another way to get outdoors and enjoy the warm, fresh air without doing harm to your back is to get on your bicycle and take a tour around the neighborhood. Grab your family and ride around local houses and businesses, seeing if they’ve changed at all over the winter months. Look for new signs of growth on bushes and trees, signaling that spring is on its way!

Rainy Day Exercises

Of course, we all know that spring is usually synonymous with rain. And while it’s extremely good for the earth, it’s not too helpful for our outdoors exercise program. Fortunately, you can still be active when Mother Nature isn’t cooperating by working out indoors. Some of the best low-impact exercises for your lower back include using the treadmill, elliptical, stationary bike, or even doing exercises in the pool should you have access to one at a gym or fitness center.

Ease into these types of activities slowly so you don’t overdo it and cause yourself back pain. Additionally, make sure you contact our Minneapolis chiropractic office Lyn Lake Chiropractic and schedule your next appointment to offer you even more back health benefits!

Some Often Unexpected Benefits of Chiropractic Care

While many of our Minneapolis chiropractic patients come to Lyn Lake Chiropractic for better health in regard to their backs, necks, and extremities, many report that their health has improved in other areas as well thanks to their regular spinal manipulations. Oftentimes, it is in ways that they hadn’t even expected.

Fewer Digestive Issues

If you frequently have a troubled tummy, irritable bowel, or some other type of digestive issue, then chiropractic may help as research has found that chiropractic adjustments to the middle and lower back can help relieve pressure that may be placed on nerves in this region. These are the same nerves responsible for making sure your digestive organs function as they should, resulting in fewer digestive problems for you.

Better Heart Health

Many studies, such as one published in the Quick read more or view full article Journal of Manipulative and Physiological Therapeutics, have discovered that, starting from the very first visit, some chiropractic patients experience a lower heart rate as a result of an adjustment. That makes this form of treatment beneficial to people who struggle with heart-related issues, potentially bringing their stats to normal, healthier ranges.

Improved Reproductive Health

Are you trying to conceive a child, but are having a tough time getting pregnant? The problem may lie with the function of your nervous system, which is what chiropractic is all about improving and enhancing. That’s why reputable agencies and organizations such as the American Pregnancy Association promote chiropractic care with helping diminish fertility issues. And once you do get pregnant, chiropractic is also great for expectant mothers!

More Balance

This issue is a concern for many, especially as we grow older. While strengthening leg muscles, performing balance-based activities like tai chi and dance, and getting adequate sleep are often helpful to diminishing this problem, studies have also found that chiropractic can help as well. One even noted that, in addition to experiencing fewer issues with balance, some chiropractic patients also reported having less dizziness and reduced neck pain. Bonus!
