Internship Opportunities

Are you looking for a meaningful internship that will give you a competitive edge, marketable experience, and knowledge of the Federal Government while making a difference in people's lives? Check out the challenging opportunities available at the Office of Inspector General (OIG) for the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS).

OIG protects the integrity of over 100 HHS programs as well as the health and welfare of the millions of beneficiaries whom those programs serve. We make an impact on HHS programs and the lives of Americans through our audits and national reviews, legal memorandums and cases, and criminal investigations. An overview of our work can be found in our Semiannual Report to Congress and Work Plan.

We are seeking motivated students who love a challenge and can bring a fresh perspective and innovative solutions to OIG. We look for students of all backgrounds - from those working toward accounting, finance, or business degrees to computer science, or public administration degrees. A description of OIG's various components, as well as opportunities that may be available, are listed below.

Office of Audit Services

The OIG's Office of Audit Services (OAS) conducts financial and performance audits of HHS programs, operations, grantees, and contractors to reduce waste, abuse, and mismanagement and to promote economy and efficiency throughout HHS.

The Student Internship Program offers students an exciting and rewarding work experience that will equip them with a competitive edge in the accounting and auditing field. OAS regularly recruits motivated, dedicated, and talented individuals who are interested in making an impact and can help further OAS's mission. As an intern, you will help to prevent and detect fraud and abuse in the programs and operations of the United States.
