Ahly football team, under the helm of new French coach Patrice Carteron, are holding a one-week training camp in Croatia in which they will play two friendly games, amid preparations for the clash anticipated with South-African Township Rollers scheduled for 17 July.

"We will play two important friendly games at the camp, against Slovenia champions Olimpija Ljubljana on 6 July and against Krasnodar of Russia on 9 July," the Cairo-based club football director Mohamed Youssif stated during their press conference on Sunday.

The Egyptian club have kept pressure on their headquarters to unveil the signing of the 47-year-old manager Carteron for two years.

Carteron wants to make the best use of the upcoming training camp to evaluate his players ahead of the tough challenges at the African Champions League," Youssif added.

The eight-trophy record-holders of the African Champions League, Ahly were held to a goalless draw at home by Tunisian giants Esperance de Tunis, before losing to Kampala 2-0 and falling to the bottom of Group A with only one point from their opening two matches.

The former Phoenix Rising, Al-Nassr, Wadi Degla and Mali coach has replaced former coach Hossam El-Badry, in the club’s attempt to end the poor run.

El-Badry, currently Pyramids club manager, stepped down from coaching Ahly on 15 May despite winning a third straight Egyptian Premier League title, the club's 40th overall, with six matches to spare.
