Armenia’s Southern Kapan airport may restart operations
YEREVAN, August 29. /ARKA/. Kapan region officials presented a project to re-launch Kapan airport at their meeting with Armenia’s vice-premier and minister of territorial administration Armen Gevorgyan who visited Kapan recently.
Representatives of Armenia’s chief civil aviation department as well participated in the discussion of the project, the press office of the ministry of territorial administration reported.
The minister said operation of the airport is important for local residents, according to the report.
He also said that the president made instruction on implementation of the project.
The sides agreed the governor of Kapan region will discuss the issue with local businessmen and submit final calculations and proposals to the cabinet in September.
The small airport in Kapan used to host YAK-40 and AN-14 planes before the start of Karabakh war. Kapan and Berd airports were closed down due to uninterrupted gunfire from Azeri side. –0--
