So what is the general consensus on the DLC? I have a friend telling me it's impossibly difficult and not really worth it.

Good to know, we'll keep that in mind while playing. Thanks!

Do any of the treasure chest items break the challenge of the game? Would suck to accidentally come across a strong weapon off the bat.

No, I don't think any of them break the game. Iirc you can't upgrade the DLC armour, so it'll offer you less protection in combat. But each armour set or item is useful in its own way. Like the Korok mask helps you to find Korok seeds. The others have their own buffs, but it's nothing you can't already get in the game from other outfits. There's also a talisman that you can use to teleport back to places that don't already have a fast travel point. The hero's path feature is pretty useful, too. The main attraction in the outfits is style/nostalgia imo.

Don't worry about getting them right off the bat, though. They're hidden in specific places on the map, and the game will give you a hint as to how to find them, but they're very spread out. You'll probably find them organically through your journey.

I've only played them in normal mode so far, but I definitely wouldn't say it's impossible. It can be challenging at times, sure, but imo it was the fun kind of challenging. If you run in without thinking, it'll be hard, but you can get through it with a bit of strategy. I wouldn't say I'm a pro at the combat or anything, and I managed just fine.

From what I am hearing DLC 1 is difficult in an unfair way in Master Mode, though.

So I bought the expansion pass for the Wii U, and I now have a Switch with BotW. I’m not going to bother going back to the Wii U version, but I also haven’t played DLC 2 yet.

My question is, do you think the second DLC is worth the buy for the Switch? I’m really torn. What’s the general consensus on DLC 2?

I'm currently in the shrine in Zora's Domain. What am I doing wrong? Shouldn't this door be open?

Edit: It worked on the second try. I guess that's the first real bug I encountered.

That was cool moment on labyrinth island after
opening the chest in the guardian room. I killed them all only for a blood moon to happen right after while I was still in there (must've missed the warning music). I ran straight for the exit this time, dodging their lasers along the way. I wish I figured out the before killing them that I could use the updraft for easy bow air shots .

Weird, it's not that hard. It does add some well-needed challenge, with bosses more difficult than any in the base game, but "impossibly difficult" is a gross overstatement. I guess the Trial of the Sword does get pretty difficult though. But this is still no Dark Souls.

Anyway, I think the DLC is worth it as long as you don't expect some brand new adventure with a new story or anything. That's not what this is, it just fleshes out the base game a bit and adds more stuff to do. And the bike is cool.

For the DLC, is there a way to easily put the three locations you get on the map without consulting guides? I'm not really up for flailing around trying to figure out how to finish this.

I basically skipped DLC 1 because it came out when I wasn't really using my Wii U, so I have no useful data.

DLC 2 is really fun, except for like one shrine in the opening section which is a pure bastard. Like, it's not even hard, it's just annoying and unforgiving. I've only finished the Plateau section, and am working through the Rito missions, but they're fun so far.

The new items and minor quests are nice.

    I enjoy the climbing
I don't enjoy running on this big ass map
    I enjoy the puzzle-y shrines
I don't enjoy running around like a headless chicken to find them
    I enjoy Paragliding
I don't enjoy it being tied to my Stamina

This game is such a love-hate situation for me :V It's gonna remain my least Fav. LoZ game for some time.

BTW is there a recipe that'll let me mix the atk boost materials so they only give me attack boost and no hearts?

Finding shrines isn't hard for the first 80 cmon, only the last stretch is a bit tedious. Use fast travel.

Yeah I found my first 70 or so without even having the Sheikah tracker thing activated. I turned it off as soon as I could because I wanted to find them naturally through exploration. You can see a lot just from scanning the horizon from high surfaces like the towers. There's also always one near a stable or town. So if you come across a new stable or settlement, you know there's one near by.

Paragliding won't get me everywhere as fast though :V At best it'd take one halfway through. Least that's my experience so far.
Unless you mean when backtracking or rexploring some locations, in which case, yeah speed travel gets you closer there faster.

  19. I'm just up to the thieves' hideout stealth section. It's terrible. The controls are just way too clunky to make stealth fun. It's almost as bad as the sneaking part of OoT. Almost.

For example, I set a trap to lure a guard away and execute him. I snuck up and as I was ready to sneakstrike... The option didn't come up because the UI was fixated on giving me the option to lift a barrel.

    Not fun.

Just noticed that this wasn't answered, sorry. Did you complete the game on Wii U? Or at least defeat all the divine beasts? If so, I would honestly just play it on Wii U.

If you'd really rather not, then I think it's worth it if you plan to continue to play the game on Switch. The expansion pass definitely enriches the experience. However, don't go in expecting a meaty story or anything like that. It gives you a bit more insight into the Champions, and offers some cool challenges. It's basically a bit more of the things people loved about the game. I enjoyed it a lot, but definitely temper any expectations about the 'story' part of the DLC.

23-24 hours and I'm finally at the Rito Village. I've used up all my glowing pins since I highlighted 2 areas from speaking to an NPC. I might just go visit those locations since I'm bound to need those for finding a few shrines.

Anything interesting on top of those those big mushroom structures in hyrule ridge? I checked a couple to find some koroks and bird eggs.

There are ways to streamline exploration. Use the sensor to find shrines, focus on upgrading stamina, cook stamina restoration/speed boost elixirs, use horses, the rito dungeon reward is very useful as is the zora one, and there is armor you can find that makes climbing quicker.

I actually did try to use stamina restoring items when climbing this mountani that has a shrine on top that I was trying to reach its peak but only managed to paraglide into. I still couldn't reach the top :V
I am using the sensor to find the shrines, I just wish I didn't have to run a marathon all around Hyrule wait for it to beep :V
I got a climbing armor piece early in the game but that one gives a minor boost on its own. I did get a 2nd piece but even with 2 pieces of climbing armor my climbing ain't all that impressive.

All the things you suggested are the end result of lengthy playing that would help in the later half of the game, but until one reaches it they could spend over 10 hours simply strengthening themselves towards achieving it.

What the fucking what the fuck?

I go to a blue mark I made because I think I saw a shrine there or something, I climb the tall ass mountain to find a Korok seed (*dull yay*), I look around to see if I can spot a shrine and I SEE A FREAKIN' FLYING SNAKE DRAGON
WHAT THE FUCK IS THAT THING? WHY IS IT THERE? HOW DO YOU EXPECT ME TO KILL THIS FUCKER? AM I SUPPOSED TO TALK TO IT? RIDE ON IT? The fuck man....

Anyways here's a cool thing I like in BotW
If you Jump then press Shield+Confirm button (A), you will ride your shield and can use it surf on grassy or snowy fields.
If you do that then JUMP AND USE YOUR PARAGLIDER, Link will STILL have his shield on his feet. Meaning that if he lands again he can continue surfing using his Shield.

    Pretty neat touch.

Wow the Rito Bird dungeon was pretty easy, prob. the easiest among the 3 I played. The boss was a little tough if you go at him first though.
Kinda feel like they should've made the Rito closer to start with for first timers.

Anyways, gonna clear up a few shrines, grab a few hearts then hit up the Gerudo. After that I'll grab the Master Sword and shut down Ganon's ass. I should be able to finish all this by next week.

Maybe seek out some more shrines? Aim to get the Master Sword too.

The DLC was pretty good, my expectations were honestly a bit too high - I was expecting a postgame mini-story on a separate island somewhere. But the story bits that were added with the new memories were genuinely interesting, and the accordion renditions of the Champions' music are gorgeous.

The new dungeon is wonderful, the wait for the next Zelda is going to ache.

Aight cleared a few more shrines and I reached a big ass Labyrinth in the desert. My shrine pinger keeps going on and off so I'ma just dive in and see what I get :V

Once I clear the Gerudo's Camel Gundam, I'll finish up some more shrines, get more memories, grab the Master Sword, then go and shove it down Ganon's throat.

I started the game on the Switch recently, after previously finishing it on WiiU. I want to know, is there a rupee farming method that hasn't been patched? Every video I watch on youtube of rupee farming I find that it doesn't work anymore.

Got the game along with my Switch a few days back. It's... really hooked me, though perhaps the bit I'm most surprised by - though perhaps shouldn't have been - is how it's tickling my inner geography student. Sure, some bits stretch credibility, but overall it's just such a well designed and visually interesting world. That you can see stuff way out into the distance is both useful for finding points of interest (there's smoke in the mountains I've gotta look into), but also makes simply looking around engaging. I also severely appreciate the map having actual contours.

There's basic (red), blue, white and then silver
And then gold if you're playing in pro

They level up with dungeon completion and number of blood moons iirc, the one in the coliseum and ones in far out regions like hebra are generally higher level
