From this
year May 7 is a national holiday – Fatherland defender’s Day. Tribute of
respect and special honor are given for people who dedicated their lives for
service to the Motherland, whose profession is to protect native land. Ruslan
Dzhilkibaev is among such keepers of peaceful life. Ruslan is a captain, senior officer of the military unit № 68665 of airborne troops of the armed forces of
the Republic of Kazakhstan. He entered his service in
2005 and has served in 36 air assault brigade for over 9 years. According to
the trooper, the main features that should be in every man include honesty and
courage. He is guided by the rule, “Never retreat, and never give up!”, that is
why he joined the military.

“Any man, first of all, is the defender
of the Fatherland, defender of his family. Family is the Motherland. I am a
defender of my family, and of my homeland respectively”.
Fatherland defender’s Day was established in the Soviet Union in 1922 as the Day of the Red Army and Navy. From 1949 to 1993, it was called “Day of the Soviet Army and Navy”. , After the collapse of the Soviet Union, people in Kazakhstan started to celebrate this holiday on May 7. It was on this day in 1992, the Supreme Commander of the Republic of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev signed a decree on the establishment of the national armed forces. And on October 4, 2012, the Parliament of the Republic accepted a decree “On amendments to the Law of the RK”, according to which the 7 of May was announced as a national holiday.

Fatherland defender's Day promises to be a memorable one. Specially for this holiday parade of military equipment has been prepared, which will be held at a military base “Otar” of Zhambyl region. It will include all the forces of the armed forces: land forces, air forces and air defense, and also the navy. And in Astana there will be a solemn farewell ceremony of inductees of the armed forces of the Republic of Kazakhstan. Also to celebrate the occasion concerts will be organized in the capital and in the evening festive fireworks will be performed on the riverwalk of Esil river.
