EvidenceNOW is an AHRQ grant initiative dedicated to improving the heart health of millions of Americans.
The nation’s opioid epidemic resulted in a 64% rise in opioid-related hospital stays from 2005-2014.However,hospital rates varied widely by state in 2014,ranging from 404 opioid-related stays per 100,000 people in MD to 73 per 100,000 in IA.The map shows states with the highest and lowest 2014 rates. States with the highest rates include: CT,DC,IL,ME,MD,MA,NY,OH,ORm RI,WA and WV. States with the lowest rates include: AR,GA,HI,IA,KS,LA,NE,OK,SC,SD,TX,and WY.No data were available for AL,AK,DE,ID,MS,or NH.
