Armenian Foreign Minister Zohrab Mnatsakanyan held a meeting on Wednesday with his Azerbaijani counterpart Elmar Mammadyarov in Brussels, press department at the ministry of foreign affairs reported, adding the meeting was the first between the two after the change of power and formation of the new government in Armenia as a result of democratic movement.

OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairs Igor Popov of Russia, Stephane Visconti of France, and Andrew Schofer of the United States as well as Personal Representatives of the OSCE Chairperson-in-Office Ambassador Andrzej Kasprzyk were also present at the talks.

The Armenian foreign minister thanked the Minsk Group Co-Chairs for organizing the meeting and stressed the need of peace process and the dynamics of the talks under the auspices of the Minsk Group.
As the release said, the meeting was introductory and aimed at getting familiarized with approaches of the sides.

Mnatsakanyan underlined that peace talks have no alternative and highlighted the steps aimed at creation of favorable atmosphere for peace, strengthening mutual trust, reducing escalation, respecting the ceasefire and refusing aggressive rhetoric.

Mnatsakanyan next pointed that feasible and constructive involvement of the all parties to the conflict is key to efficient efforts aimed at establishing lasting peace.

The interlocutors exchanged views on issues concerning the NK peace process. The Co-Chairs presented their upcoming plans to the ministers, the release concluded.
