A PROPOSAL FROM A SCOUNDREL

Daphne Swift has not laid eyes on her devilishly charming husband, Captain Rafferty Cavendish, in quite some time. As a matter of fact, she wants the rogue to annul their brief marriage so that she can marry the reliable and estimable Lord Fitzwell. But the breathtakingly handsome Rafe is not interested in letting Daphne go—at least not without paying his scandalous price…

THE SEDUCTION OF HIS WIFE

Rafe prefers to face the dangers of spying alone, but this time he needs his innocent, fiery wife to uncover the information he seeks. He has even agreed to release her from their marriage if she submits completely to his plan. However, Daphne’s alluring combination of courage and curves makes her a dangerous distraction, and it is not long before Rafe is trading subterfuge for seduction in order to prove that Daphne is meant to be his and his alone…

Exclusive interview with the author:

1) Considering a book from the first word you write to the moment you see it on a bookstore shelf, what’s your favorite part of the process? What’s your least favorite?

My favorite part is still seeing the cover for the first time. It’s always such a thrill. My least favorite part is the page proof stage. It’s the last time I read the book for final tweaks.

2) If you could choose one dessert or snack food that you could eat as much as you want of (and never gain an ounce!) what would it be?

One word: Cake!

3) Do your ideas for stories or scenes come to you when you’re actively thinking about them? Or do they come to you while dreaming, or out of the blue?

Lately, they’ve been coming to me in the middle of the night while I’m dreaming. I woke up about a month ago with an idea for a new story and I had to get up and type it out. I knew I wouldn’t remember it in the morning if I didn’t do that. I hope to write that book in 2016!

4) What book are you currently reading or what was the last book you read?

I just finished Julie Anne Long’s, The Legend of Lyon Redmond. Absolutely perfect! An instant classic and one I’ll definitely be reading again and again.

5) What’s up next for you?

I’m currently editing The Untamed Earl, book 5 in The Playful Brides series. It’s based on The Taming of the Shrew. I’m also writing The Legendary Lord which is book 6 in the series and is based on Pygmalion. Meanwhile, I have two holiday anthologies about to come out, one is called All I Want for Christmas is a Duke and the other is A Very Matchmaker Christmas.

    Valerie,
“Let them eat cake!” (per Marie Antoinette) May the holidays bring you cake – love your books.

Fun question and answer! I think the cover reveal would be a cool part of getting a book published, too.

    Story sounds fun!

Good thing the cover is beautiful! It would be horrible to look at the cover for the first time and, oh no! Not what you had in mind at all!
