Important inspection information

All building inspections will be scheduled in the order received to fill all available times during the department's operating hours.

Access our online inspection scheduling program here to schedule, re-schedule or cancel your next inspection! This new system allows inspections to be requested up to 30 days in advance.

Effective July 1, 2018:
- The automated inspection request system (AIRS) phase-out will be complete in lieu of the online scheduler.
- Inspection scheduling request cut-off times change from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.
- Next business day inspection requests for driveway and utilities will only be available for requests received prior to 3:30 p.m. prior to the requested date.

Contractors and authorized agents may submit specific permit applications to buildingpermits@marioncountyfl.org.
Homeowners acting as a contractor must appear in person to apply for permits.

 

The contractor licensing division is responsible for making sure contractors working in Marion County are properly licensed by Marion County and/or the State of Florida. A contractor licensing representative maintains records for the division and a license check is made each time a permit is issued.

Building inspectors and code enforcement officers assist in the field verifying that projects are permitted.
