HBCU Library Alliance 8th Membership Meeting
The 8th HBCU Library Alliance Membership Meeting is scheduled at the Atlanta University Center Woodruff Library (GA) on Sunday through Tuesday, October 7 - 9. The Transforming HBCU Library Alliance: Revisit, Refocus, Reframe is our meeting theme. The Membership meeting will begin with a Pre-Conference session from 1:00 – 5:00 on Sunday, October 7. Monday's session will begin at 8:30 and end with a Reception and Poster Session presentations. Tuesday’s session will begin at 8:00 and end no later than 4:00. This is a season of excitement for the HBCU Library Alliance as we celebrate our work, strategize to advance the mission of the organization, and build partnerships.

HBCU Library Alliance 2018 Conservation Intern Program
The Winterthur University of Delaware Program in Art Conservation, in partnership with the HBCU Library Alliance, received funding to coordinate five fully-funded, eight-week summer internships in library and archives preservation during 2018, at five nationally-recognized library preservation/conservation laboratories. Winterthur’s Melissa Tedone, Ph.D, Associate Conservator for Books and Libraries, is Primary Investigator for this project.
Thanks to the Samuel H. Kress Foundation, the University of Delaware College of Arts and Science, the Department of Art Conservation at the University of Delaware, and the Winterthur Museum, Garden, and Library (DE) for funding this internship project. Library of Congress/HBCU Library Alliance Summer Intern Program
The Library of Congress has contracted with the HBCU Library Alliance to coordinate one fully-funded eight-week 2018 summer internship in library conservation and preservation. Thanks to Board Member Deanna Marcum, Ithaka S+R (NY), for the connection to Library of Congress. Jacob Nadal, Director of Preservation, will serve as site supervisor and mentor. Miranda Clinton, North Carolina Central University, has accepted the placement.

Harvard Library Leadership Institute, Knafel Center, Radcliffe Institute for Advanced Study, Cambridge, MA
April 12-13, 2018
HBCU Library Alliance colleagues participated in the April 12-13 Harvard Library Leadership Institute in Cambridge, MA. The Leadership Institute was followed by the Radcliffe Workshop on Technology and Archival Processing program “A More Complete Record: The Case for Archival Partnerships.” HBCU Library Alliance Board Chair Monika Rhue presented at both sessions.

Digital Library Federation/HBCU Library Alliance Pre-Conference and Forum, Pittsburgh, PA
The HBCU Library Alliance partnered with the Digital Library Federation, an inclusive community of practitioners who advance research, learning, social justice, and the public good through the creative design and wise application of digital library technologies to present the October 2017 Digital Library Federation Liberal Arts/HBCUs Pre-Conference. Fifteen HBCU Library Alliance member institutions were represented at Pre-Conference and Forum supported by generous funding from the Institute of Museum and Library Services. Thanks to Loretta Parham, CEO and Library Director, Atlanta University Center Woodruff Library, for delivering the Pre-Conference keynote.
