COPS are probing the unexplained death of a woman found apparently stabbed at her home – with a young child also found at the scene.
The 32-year-old, who hasn’t been named, was discovered at the flat in the quiet village of Waterside, near Kirkintilloch, Dunbartonshire at 3:40pm this afternoon.
Neighbours told how a primary school age girl was also present at the bottom floor home when cops raced to scene.
It’s believed the woman had suffered fatal stab wounds.
A neighbour said the tragic death had shocked the normally peaceful village a few miles from Glasgow.
One said: “We’d heard she’d been stabbed and a kid was in the house which makes it all the more awful.
“The lady had only moved in very recently so we didn’t know her very well.
Kirkintilloch man accused of hiding body of elderly aunt and continuing to claim benefits for her care for EIGHT MONTHS
“It all started about half past three, just as the kids were coming home from school.”
Another local added: “An elderly woman had lived in that home but the younger woman had moved in a few months ago.
“I walked past recently and the flat was getting decorated.
“I’ve no idea who else lived in the home though.”
Police sealed off part of the street tonight and locals had to sign in and out of neighbouring houses.
