Nedaa Syria:

There were conflicting reports about the cause of the explosions that hit one of the largest arms depots of the Syrian regime in the area of Qatifah in the countryside of Damascus, which is about 20 kilometers from the Lebanese border.

"The explosions occurred inside a warehouse of weapons and ammunition and the reason is the rise in temperatures," pro Syrian regime media sources claimed while local sources confirmed that it was caused by an air strike of the Israeli air force.

Earlier, local sources confirmed that Hezbollah and Iranian-backed militias had transported trucks of weapons and missiles to the Qatifah area in preparation for any possible operation on the southern region of Daraa and its countryside.

The Iranian news channel Al-Alam had reported saying that the explosions could be the result of Israel targeting a warehouse containing weapons and military equipment.

In January, the Israeli Air Force launched three air strikes on military barracks in Qatifah, and the regime then claimed to have been able to confront them.

Israel has told Russia that it intends to expand its raids in Syria to include Iranian targets, and will not remain concentrated only in the south and around the capital, Damascus.
