Didn't they ban the incel board? Or is reddit just turning the other cheek?

Fuck reddit and their fucking rules.

  3. Not really. PUAs preach that with proper "game" any man can pull women. Incels teach the opposite, that if you are sub-8, there's no point in trying at all.

Reddit banned the original. They just migrated to that sub, which has slightly stricter moderation to prevent the admins from stepping in again.

The official Incels board was shut down last November. They have since scattered to several other boards. Reddit has some of the best and worst the internet has to offer.

    Holy hell that's insane.

Surprised most of those don't seem to know about Marc Lépine, tbh. I guess Lépine hated women for other reasons than sex, though (he blamed feminists for taking his manly engineering career away from him because women were successful in engineering school and he wasn't... yeah) so he doesn't quite fit the incel profile even if he was a violent misogynist.
No. That's putting it far too mildly, to say the least. Incels are hateful, delusional misogynists who think they are entitled to (young, attractive) women's bodies.

I remember seeing this video some time ago and feeling bad that this guy (and people like him) get sucked into these communities and are indoctrinated into this line of thinking.

Their lives would be so much better if they were never exposed to it.

What's so funny? I've seen the ugliest people have friends and romantic partners. They might not be thought of as attractive in the traditional sense but they are attractive enough to have friends, romantic partners and live a fulfilling life. It really isn't that hard. All that's required is to not be a dick.

They banned the incel subreddit for threatening violence against a man, not because of their views. Because women reporting their subreddit fell on deaf ears for years before that.

Hate groups can exist on reddit because I don't know.

I know you probably didn't mean it that way, but don't say that. Incels are not victims of anything except maybe of their own hateful delusions.

Incel is such a misnomer. There's nothing involuntary about what they are or how they act. If you're being an awful person with such toxic views on "how things should work", who's fault is it that nobody wants anything to do with you, really?

They're pathetic people who refuse to look at themselves and try to grow and improve, and instead blames others for their own shortcomings.

"Involuntarily" my ass, you just suck.

  13. Sure, open-mindedness and humility are good traits. But they are far from being "all it takes" to be attractive. I assure you, those ugly people you mention had more to offer than that.

Yeah, that's what I mean. I don't mean physically attractive. An ugly person is an ugly person. But even an ugly person isn't doomed to a lonely life as long as they have those qualities. They will find companionship no matter what. Willingness to change will refine their personality enough to make them attractive.

Incel is a portmanteau meaning "Involuntary Celibate". They are a collection of men that think (among other things) women have too much control in society and that the only thing dictating success in the dating realm is physical attractiveness. Basically, they believe that genes are all important, and that the dating game is rigged. They blame women for this perceived slight. They hate women. Incel boards will often discuss acts of violence against women, including more than a few posts on the subreddit they used to have discussing things like "raping women until they love you", and other vile ideas. I would say they are a more aggressive and militant form of the "Nice Guys" people used to talk about in the earlier days of the internet.

Involuntary Celibates. A hate group of mainly men who blame women, feminism, greater society, etc. for being romantically/sexually unsuccessful. Their communities are usually misogynistic pitty parties where they trade dreams and desires for laws that rob women of their sexual autonomy and worlds where women are commodities to be used by them specifically. And as has been mentioned, often praise and revere acts of violence against women and claim it as an inevitable consequence of women having agency in their choice of partners.

I don't mean that they're worthy of sympathy or anything, incels are absolutely disgusting... And I should add that to my previous post before I draw any ire...

However, what I meant is that I feel the problem can't be solved by "brute forcing" it. Just banning and chasing away their discussion places will just send them into hiding, their "recruitment" might be slowed, but these men will still continue to exist and new one will continue to be added unless the core issue is addressed. Just as Neo-Nazi had been changing their callsigns everytime they were spotted, but well, we can all see how well that has been working.

Sure, there are some differences, with some PUAs also focussing on self-improvement and positivity as part of their "game" but their views on women are largely the same. I'm still confident in claiming that a large number of incels is also drawn to PUA boards by the promises of quick and certain ways to attract women.

  20. I can't agree. There's plenty that can stand in the way of open-minded, humble people. "Not being a dick" is not a guarantor of success. A lack of charisma, paired with ugliness, makes relationships an uphill battle.

I guess my point is semantic. Usually, by the time someone identifies as incel, they've given up on attracting women at all. I've even seen some incel vitriol towards PUAs as they perceive them to be in denial of their station in life. The most popular advice I've seen on incel forums is an acronym: LDAR. It stands for Lie Down And Rot.

It'll certainly be an uphill battle, but my point is that they will find someone eventually. They might not find the most attractive person, but it will be a fulfilling relationship. Also, if a person is hard working and successful, that adds some in their favor as well.

This is why I'm over "waiting for the next star to be outed". We need to stop being shocked that we teach our young boys this shit, and then they grow up to think that it is okay.

Yes, it's hard. But it's only hard because we've been taught this is okay since the fucking beginning of time.

"Eventually" is such a pointless and vague concept here.

"Eventually" could mean soon or 50 years from now. That's hardly reassuring.

Sex and romance is only a "huge aspect of life" if you deem it so. I spent 20+ years of my life as a virgin with zero romantic relationships despite trying. Of course I was lonely but it wasn't something that ate away at me. It wasn't something I let define me. And it certainly wasn't something that pushed me to violent thoughts/action & blaming women and other men for creating a conspiracy against me. The issue here is incels are tying their humanity to whether or not they're sexually/romantically successful and easily destroy their empathy and humanity since they believe being in a relationship is the only true way to live.

    They want a shortcut

Don't invest the time or resources to be able to match societal views of what a man should represent, you know things to attract a partner

Rather stay on the computer linked with ilk minded others such as themselves and just feed on the despise environment that life is to cruel to them

Doesn't help society has shifted a lot through the internet age and these echo chambers and bubbles aren't just small time, most reach worldwide and take a real big contrast to what is considered normal

Ill use me as an example
I'm obese, Pakistani, not very good looking, have certain issues (undocumented, which really hurts monetarily (present) and financially (future) savings).
Throughout high school never got "laid" did get to 3rd base, never had a girlfriend, did try a lot to get one , failed, yet tried, hell most of the girls became more good friends than an afterthought
This was 1995-1999 Era, so Internet wasn't this huge thing it is now

I had friends, was social, had a very good life till 2005, then became insular and gravitated towards being more insular, my choice

The new generation of kids coming up are in a whole different ball game of growing up
I might be going off rails on this and some weird tangents but what the hell

Porn (easy access), New terms that are labeling, school funding, societal views and shifts, internet, 24/7 social media blitz, dark parts of the web, breeding grounds, bubbles/echo chambers/safe havens, easy accrument of gun(s), upbringing, etc.

All those I wrote stitch together to what an incel might go through now and thing taking revenge is the best course of action to show their worth

Kid in high school likes a girl, shy, doesn't communicate or socialize in any circle said girl revolves in. Goes to a forum or part of the web to see if there's other like him to get some pointers. Reads suggestions and posts, new verbiage such as Alpha or Beta, Incel, fag, kys (kill yourself). Follows down the rabbit hole. To get by uses porn as a tool to alleviate growing pains, but slippery slope, keeps pushing limits and boundaries of what is considered normal and fantasy, very blurred lines. School has no outlet to let guy vent, say guidance councilor or group. Uses internet and skills learned in breeding grounds of the places visited and stalks through social media outlets and follows girl. Rather than it be more of a check on, it's stalker/prey scenario. Goes back and reports to said fellow members, gets egged on, tries to follow through. Girl confused never knowing much of the guy besides name and run into them in the hall, yet guy has every detail, creeping out girl. Failed mission of conquest, rejection. Goes back to report, gets laughed on or called out.
Family as last resort to help or situate, but lackluster involvement from them and if family very gun friendly, put 2 and 2 together and you have a chance at thing being very combustive

I know there's many generalizations and assumptions, but in this day and age, shit is not the same from when I grew up

That's not the point. The point is that it's not women's fault, and believing that it could be stems from staggering entitlement.

Like fuck. There are lonely women out there, but you don't see them lashing out like this.

  33. That isn't a guarantee. Life isn't fair. You can be a perfectly good person and still end up alone.

I'd agree. Sadly, many of them suffer from depression - which can make it extremely difficult to differentiate between boundless self-loathing and earnest self-criticism.

First of all, I don't believe there is an ugly person out there that would take 50 years to find a partner. I use the word eventually because this is a hypothetical and there's no definite time period. If a person is putting themselves out there, talking to others, making friends, working on themselves, and is kind hearted, it shouldn't take long for them to find someone.
We'll simply have to agree to disagree on that point. If a good person ends up alone, it will be through isolation or the death of loved ones. Still, I have a hard time believing that a truly kind hearted person isn't valued in society, no matter their appearance.

It all boils down to the point that these people aren't involuntarily celibate. They just refuse to better themselves.

  45. That is considerably different from "just be open-minded and humble".

Also, sure, an ugly person can be valued by society. Society values anything that can generate profit and ugly people are perfectly capable of working. But, that's not the same thing as being valued as a friend or potential partner.
