Greyscale vs. Color

#1

I read an interesting article about turning your tablets and cellphones to greyscale instead of color to make it more like a tool and less like a toy.

I have been wondering lately about the professional juggler’s general tendency towards monochromatic props and white props in particular. A lot of clowns tend to juggle bright multicolored props and most amateur jugglers do the same.

I wonder if a part of the reason is the feeling that monochromatic or greyscale equals “tool” and bright multicolored things equals “toy”.

Here is the article: https://www.nytimes.com/2018/01/12/technology/grayscale-phone.html?utm_source=Jocelyn+K.+Glei's+newsletter&utm_campaign=f51b3d060c-Newsletter_12_07_17&utm_medium=email&utm_term=0_0d0c9bd4c2-f51b3d060c-156827121

Nice, I put my phone in grayscale straight away!

As for my props, I want my tools to be fun to work with, so I pick a color which attracts me (yellow). To save myself from making arbitrary choices and some distractions, I also limit myself to yellow.
